I worked there for several months compressing the telephone exchange down to fraction of it's original size and increasing it's capacity, great harbour.

Gout in my foot has eased off and the swelling is going down, only the slightest twinge now and no limp. Didn't need medication. :)

I have gout, and was told by a woman who had a 36 hour labour would do that any time over 5 minutes of gout.

I now take a drug called Allopurinol.

Luckily the list of food which have high purine I never eat.

In the lowest level are both Peanuts & Marmite.

I'm writing some embedded C code on an ARM processor (Cortex M0) for a client and this morning the initial code build (24 files) has compiled and linked. No errors and only two warnings. :)

Now I have to try and get it running. :erm:

Today I discovered that two things I like very much are linked - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and The Eagles.

I have enjoyed HHGTTG since the radio show in 1978, the books since 1979, the TV series, and even the 2005 film; I’ve been a big Eagles fan since their second album, Desperado, and seen them live twice.

Today, I discovered, by chance*, that an Eagles song, Journey of the Sorceror, is the HHGTTG theme tune - it’s funny how life can still hold pleasant surprises, even as you get older.

*I asked ”Alexa" to play some Eagles music, and this came up.

I knew that, back in 2012 I was in the audience to see an episode of QI made (J-places).

While you wait they play music which is a clue to the episode title, the HHGTTG theme was played.

Well after a crap year to date, yesterday we actually had some good news.

My niece has past her driving test on her first attempt, (she had it cancelled twice thanks to Covid-19)

She has done loads of miles since passing, she drove round to drop some stuff off, but I was out, so she popped back after picking her brother up from college, she said that her first drive was a bit scary.

I joked that she will become a taxi to her mum and dad, which is good for me.

The strange thing is the fact we both past out driving tests within 2 weeks of our grandparents death.

I got the first edition of HHGTTG - complete radio scripts.

Has lots of lovely info about the stories, the scripts, the cast.

Like who was the inspiration for Marvin, what was Slartibartfast's original name and so on? And why did they choose that theme song?

Welcome back weenie. You were missed.

My happy: Made some bread today, seeded semi wholemeal, hand kneaded.

I had been getting some reduced 1/2 seeded bloomer in the supermarket but I really wanted to make my own again.
