i have to agree here its a big rip off !!!

i currently have the XL tv package but no Sky Sports or Sky Movies subcriptions. i would of been willing to pay for a Sky premium HD supscription (sports and movies in HD) without having to pay for the SD broadcasts as well. it just seems a waste of money to have to pay to recieve the SD channels before you get the option of having the HD channels.

it looks like VM missed a good thing here by forcing people subcribe to the Sky SD premium channels and waste money before allowing an option to have the HD premium content, afterall who wants to watch SD channels (unless you dont have a HD box and TV in wich case you would not subcribe to HD permium channels) if you have the HD channels available.

If, IF true, VM really need to push 'the non-premium HD is free on XL' point of their offering, because there's no way in hell that is great value for money compared to Sky, and you can be sure that Sky will be shouting from the rooftops about that.

Hey i have 2 options about this alleged charge and they are:

1, If there is a charge and anybody is not happy with it = Do not pay it.

2, If there is no charge ( package dependent ) everybody will be happy with it = Dependent on the charge on packages.

We have no choice at the moment to bitch (or praise) about rumours. VM haven't made their announcement yet.

Expecting customers not to speculate before the announcement, on an internet discussion forum, is simply unrealistic.

Tell us, Virgin, then we can deal with facts. We can then praise those facts and maybe even bitch about them too. ;)

Until then, the speculation will continue. And why shouldn't it?

Unlike some others in this thread I don't think that Sky are about to scrap the extra HD charge. That being the case they are never going to sell them to VM for far less than they charge their own customers. If they did that VM would be able to undercut them and that is a situation Sky would never allow. Sky didn't get where they are today by acting like a charity.

This argument always amazes me. It's like people think they'd be able to get it cheaper if they just took the HD versions, when in reality they'd end up being charged the same. It's always going to cost more for the HD version than the SD, regardless of if you actually then get both. Think of it as paying for the HD version and then getting the SD thrown in for free.

I subscribe to the movies and sport channels,im on the Vip package and they want £10.00 per box! so will I chose the bigger TV downstairs or the smaller one upstairs where I can watch in peace

Hmmm bigger TV gets more benefit of HD one than the smaller one and you will still be able to get the SD versions upstairs, there I have made your decision for you ;) :D

you could do and i see your point but its a waste especially if im paying for premium content that i will never watch.
like i said i would willingly pay for a HD premium package (as long as the price reflects the fact there is no SD content included) but all this throwing the SD channels for free is of on interest to me.

Yeah but you have to agree 23.00 XL plus 27.50 movies and sport plus 7.00 HD charge is 57.50 which to me is way to steep when you consider you only get 2 sports HD channels and less XL HD channels than sky have on 6 mix.
