I find this a bit strange, what if you have a download limit of say 30gb, and you happily do this for a few months, and suddenly in a couple of days you exceed it, by downloading, updates for all your programs needs, and play games while doing it, not to mention streaming radio, will the person automatically get stopped or billed?

so they are kind of forcing you to take the top 2, if not the top one........

HHhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm, I may have to think about this one, when it is rolling out, when it rolls out, you are not automatically entered into a new years contract, is this correct?

My folks use the internet once or twice a week to check emails and shop. As such this tarrif would suit them as the little bit they do could be done faster.

Of course you do!

If i'm downlaoding a patch for a game thats 30meg, and I can download it in 20 seconds instead of 1 min, then DAMN right I need that.

True, but if it downloaded in 25 seconds instead, do you care? You are already 35 seconds better off, and in any case the reason it might take 25, or 30 seconds could be that the server serving all these 30meg files is bandwidth constrained, not you, you now have as much or more bandwidth than many servers.

Applying the same logic then, you don't need BB at all, Hey guys! Stop the speed Increaese, 1400 is fine for all!

The same reason that peole like my parents are happy to be upgraded to the 1Mb / 3Gb from the 300k / unlimited. They do a little surfing, send a little email, download the automatic updates, AV patterns, just those pages / activities happen 3x faster. Now they will happen 30x faster.

its crap, i bet they don't release it to 'set top box' customers untill like 2 yrs yet. because to get 2MB i had to get a new set top box, that could power that much... so yet another set top box to be 'made' what crap ntl are, can't wait to move.

I wonder if they have worked on any packages for the new speed,i'm currently on the 1MB as part of the 3 for £30 deal.

Sorry if this has already been asked.

Imo, it would be ideal to go

Package 1: 1mb > 3mb
Package 2: 2mb > 8mb
Package 3: 3mb > 10mb

Why, your average user is not going to change their emailing, surfing habits because they can go faster, they will just do it faster.

Also from things Jimbo has said, effectivly this data comes racing over to the UBR as fast as the internal NLT network can carry it, the UBR then feeds it out to you at the pace that your account is set to recieve it at. Now I don't know how the packets are stored at the UBR, but by slowing these users down may create congestion at the UBR that could impact the 10mb users. You would need a techy UBR type person to clarify that.
