BBC 4 HD was moved from Channel 164 to Channel 163 in July 2016:

I accept it was on Ch164, it just didn't stick in my head. I have a memory of thinking they'd purposefully aligned the 3rd digit with the channel name to help customers remember the channel number at one point and was just checking I wasn't mad(der). :D

I'm guessing the Press Blue For HD function stopped that move being remembered by me.

Did Sky initially say that this was going to close and change their mind, or was it just assumed by us that it would close?

Not to my knowledge, but the reason it appeared to be closing was that it was not one of the pay channels listed by Sky when they made the announcement about channel changes.

Additionally, it seemed rather over the top to retain the channel when Sky Showcase was basically simulcasting most of its programming from other Sky channels.

Ahh I see. Isn't it a repeats channel and dumping ground for low rating Sky One stuff? If so, this might have contributed to the assumption that it was closing.

Not so just the filler, it has most of the weeks imports during primetime. It's almost a +1hr, +1 day and Mix channel combined, and for Sky Witness shows, not just Sky 1.

And given VM don't have Sky1+1, it's slightly more useful on VM than other platforms. Though with on-demand, yes there's little point.

I know but if you read my post it states the CNN App

The page I linked to is on VirginMedia’s own website.

Is there a CNN app on Virgin Media?
There is a CNN app currently available on our TV 360 box, which provides video features and new stories. If and when CNN make their full live TV service available via app in the UK we will look at bringing it to Virgin Media platform, so keep an eye out.

Is Boomerang HD set to launch on Virgin Media as part of this deal?

Did you mean to put more words in this post below? As otherwise it conflicts with the one above. Or at least is confusing.

The first post was posted some days ago. I have been asking all my Sources to 100% confirm if Virgin Media has signed the new deal with WarnerMedia but they all point out that CNN is also set to close on FreeSat and BT from Wednesday so they think WarnerMedia has pull CNN from Virgin Media. But one also says "Maybe WarnerMedia wants Virgin to pay £z per head but Virgin only offer them £k per head".

Maybe that mean Virgin Media deal with WarnerMedia in 2022 for all we know?

I don’t think they would be pulling the channel if it was coming back.

They seem to be referring to the app possibly being upgraded with the live channel in future

It remains to be see if enough people are willing to pay £20 a year to watch.

I was meaning as an LIVE TV channels as Virgin was not willing to pay what WarnerMedia wanted to keep CNN on Virgin.

For all we know maybe Sky is paying for CNN to broadcast on Astra 28.2. But reports on Digital Spy Forum says that CNN is set to paywall from Wednesday on Sky.

I only think about 40% (Or even higher) of Virgin Viewers will not even notes that CNN has stop broadcasting on Virgin Media.

If enough people kick and scream Virgin and Warner might get back to the table but (I can imagine) until now money has gone Virgins way to carry CNN while CNN now want Virgin to pay them.
