Virgin would be shouting it from the rooftops. The greatest combined phone, broadband, TV and mobile package the world has ever seen - £99 a month including Sky Atlantic, BT Sport...

Sky needs to have something to differentiate it's product from Virgin because like for like the Virgin package is far superior at almost every price point.

To quote my Dad we will get nowt!!!

Yes, might. I wouldn't put it any stronger than that. The press release says:

An expanded catalogue of boxsets from Sky’s hit TV shows such as Jamestown, The Reluctant Landlord and the forthcoming comedy Brassic.

Increased on demand rights meaning that customers can delve deeper into Sky’s collection of films, shows and sports events

I just wonder what they mean by 'an expanded catalogue of box sets' and what 'delve deeper into Sky's collection' means. We already have access to the shows on Sky One, Sky Witness and Sky Arts, so what is this other material?

I notice that when they give examples of the kind of shows they mean, those examples are all Sky One shows, so I won't hold my breath.

I think its referring to even more extra content from the Sky One, Witness, Arts, etc box set archives. As of now, VM only has limited access to SOME of the content in those channel box sets. Sky customers can access ALL the amount of content on those same channel box sets, so maybe the VM new agreement will equal the playing field a bit more?

Imo i think they are on about Skys original content with SKY stating they are going to invest heavily into original content.

RXTVlog is reporting that TCM HD is closing on Sky. Apparently it was hosted on Sky's transponder space and it's just part of a continuing trend.

Much like with Lifetime HD, it is said to be continuing on Virgin Media.

I can't wait to see what is going to happen with Sky Sports HD £7 EXTRA per month.

Will it be drop and all Sky Cinema SD and Sky Sports SD Channels drop with Sky Sports Racing HD launching on Virgin Channel 511?

I'd like to know what happens with this too, its a joke to have to pay that extra for HD.

Lucky for me i got a 12 months Sky Sports (no HD) deal on Virgin for £2.25 a month which ends in February :)

Possible they'll do the same as they did on Sky last year, remove the two tiers to mean everyone pays the same, decreasing cost for HD subscribers and increasing it for SD subscribers.

I predicted ages ago that Sky would look to cut the number of third party channels it subsidises or includes as part of its entertainment package.

Going forward they'll look to keep its entertainment package competitive with more emphasis on its own content and select third party content and more On Demand.

I suspect it's also due to the cheap capacity on Astra deal that has or is about to expire.

Unlikely to be honest. Unless they can move the whole satellite to another slot and make money they'll be content to leave it flying.

Unless there is some late technical problem which as we know can happen.
