I think that if we are lucky to have smart to it is a good substitute for the apps on the current gen TiVo then we are lucky, if you don't have a smart to well it's not good

If you don't have a smart TV, then you can just add an inexpensive streamer box/stick.

Did a test speed comparison for a TiVo app and same app on smart to very shocked. Virgin said that's just how long it's meant to take lucky it's not longer

Take a look at this video on YouTube:

I could give you the app load up times from my Sky box but it would probably be as irrelevant as your comparison to your smart TV considering both have hardware far newer than the current VM TiVo box.

If you are interested though both Vevo and Youtube load to the initial screen in around 5-6 seconds.

You have to factor in the replacement cycle of devices. PVR's have a replacement cycle of at least five years. Apps will work perfectly fine at the beginning of those five years, but as apps develop in complexity over those five years, the processing power of that five year old PVR will struggle with the demands of the updated apps.

Streaming devices are updated far more frequently, each time getting more processing power to deal with the updated apps.

My big questioned sky hadn't launched sky q, would they be bothered a new box

1701-e 19-04-2016 11:56

We’re raising our prices because Sky is increasing their cost to us

Coming soon - a price hike for some.

Sky has increased the cost for Sky Movies and Sky Sports to their customers including us, and unfortunately this means we’re having to pass on the increase to our customers too, from June 1st 2016.

CNN HD is now testing on satellite in preparation for a full launch on the EPG.

The picture quality is said to be one of the best with regards to the HD channels.

CNN SD is FTA, I don't know if the HD variant will be pay or not, but I doubt it (the tests are certainly FTA).

Does anyone know if this new channel is coming to VM?

Edit: Just found out that ITVBe HD and CITV HD are testing on satellite too.

We already have ITVBe HD anyway don't we, so I wonder if we will get CITV HD too?

No news on it coming to vm, we think it will be fta on sattelite and possibly be on freesat too.

I am aware they are newer but I was only trying to point out the different due to the age of TiVo and how new hardware is so important
