Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Hey if it's free, I've got nothing to lose. On the other hand if it costs more than £10 a month, I get better service on my mobile phone for that!

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Not if you're on Orange (apparently parts of the country have lost orange data due to a fault)
:D |
Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Vodafone, O2, and 3 are my main providers, I've boycotted Orange since they treated me like <insert various colourful terms for excrement> about 8 years ago.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
LOL, I did the same when I had internet with them.. Told me that in September that I had gone over their FUP limit in June and told me unless I reduce usage they would restrict me (weird thing is that they wouldn;t tell me what the limit was).. Then in October they sent me a letter stating that because I hadn;t reduced usage in July they would be restricting me from 6.5Mb (adsl max) to 128Kb during the day..
Did they honestly think I could time travel??? :wtf: PS.. The limit turned out to be 40GB |
Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Literally just got my upload speed upgrade to 5mb/s last night and i'm in the Glenrothes area which is on the March/April list. Was a bit worried that the double speed wouldn't be coming on time but at least the upload finally being done gives some hope.
Oddly my download speed is more stable since the upgrade last night than it's ever been, maxing out at 50.3 within seconds and not budging off it until my download is done no matter the size, it used to fluctuate quite a bit. |

They sent me an invoice on the 3rd of November, dated 1st November. A week later they demanded I pay a 125 euro reconnection fee for failing to pay before 20th of October. I pointed out that would have been impossible because the invoice was generated on 1st November. They said they sent me reminders in October. I said that was impossible, the invoice didn't exist until November. They said I was being uncooperative and would be disconnected. I told them where to shove it. ---------- Post added at 17:59 ---------- Previous post was at 17:59 ---------- Quote:

I'm probably happier that my download solidified at 50.3 after the upgrade than the actual upload upgrade itself :p: Now i have my fingers crossed that the boost to 100mb goes as well. |
Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Hmm, well if upload *was* fine before, it explains it less.
I did used to have bad upload speed in my area (500kbit/sec on 50mb) which limited my download to no more than 20-30mbps. Now I see my download fluctuating and jumping from 5-15mbps randomly after spending the first two seconds at 50mb - so by the sounds of things similar to you. I'm also in Scotland, ex-TW by the way, so probably similar network architecture too. Glad it made such a big difference to you, though for me too late for VM to keep my custom, they'd been promising this "soon" for 15 months already. |

I take it you're in the same area fella? For the couple of days beforehand TV and net were a bit glitchy and had some downtime so i guess they were working on it. Outta the blue today I uploaded a .zip file and it zoomed so i started checking and there it was, 5mb upload. Try a modem reboot ;) |
Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Is it true if your on L 10mb and already have a superhub you will get upgraded to the 30mb speed and not the 20mb speed.
I have heard some people say that but is it true or not? |

The new 30mbit config is for a future package. The new 30mbit config is not been used to give discounts for waiving the speed upgrade. You have now just said its not going to be used on 10mbit customers. So what is it for? |
