A serious head injury to Tom Bender has forced the abandonment of the Accrington Stanley and Tranmere cup tie in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The 18-year-old Accrington defender was unconscious as he was treated on the pitch for 25 minutes.
Here is hoping Tom Bender will be ok.

erm.. I wonder what Alan Sugar makes of this? what a clueless *******, "At the time I thought it was banter."... i'm lost for words. being drunk isn't an excuse, being egged on isn't an excuse, everyones got common sense but obviously this guy hasn't judging by him thinking what he said would be taken as "banter".

I have to say I quite like The Sun naming and shaming internet trolls. Feel dirty...But it's kind of nice to see people who thought their vile abusive posts could be posted without consequence getting their comeuppance.

I get the whole 'banter' thing in football, IMO that's part and parcel of the game. But it should always be about the team and the players as footballers, not as parents, sons etc. Anything which brings players' families or personal issues like that is completely unacceptable. It should never ever be personal. For example I love to watch Liverpool lose but Hillsborough is WAY off limits, you just don't go there.

Looks like things could be getting problematic for UEFA. :D

A Swiss court last night ordered UEFA to re-instate Sion back into the tournament and told them they will stop the tournament if it doesn’t happen.

Europe’s governing club body have been told to pay Sion’s court costs and also 1000 Swiss Francs for every day they are frozen out of the competition.

UEFA had indicated they would make a statement today but they have now delayed that until next week.

The Swiss courts, who govern UEFA's hometown of Nyon, have made it clear that FIFA and UEFA were wrong to stop Sion signing players.
