Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
NTL should stop farting around and bring out a proper OFFICIAL package which competes directly with talktalk and takes (marketing) advantage of the fact that a phone line isn't necessary for cable modem customers so they can offer a lower price for those that dont want a phone line.
eg. 10meg broadband for £20 a month or 10meg broadband plus a phone line for £22. |

Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
Anyone got a better offer for all 3 services through retentions? Like TU24, base TV and 2mb bb?
My current talk unlimited weekends, base tv and 1mb bb is simply not competitive enough for £30 considering the quality of service NTL. Will switch services unless retentions can come up trumps and avoid the hassle of switching. |

did you ask for a discount or tell them you want to be disconected ? |
Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
I rang them today. Got the following offers:
10Mb broadband half-price at £17.50 per month for 3 months. 5p Talk Plan for £5.25 per month for 6 months. Total: £22.75 +calls at 5p per hour (evening/weekend) And the best bit - broadband was installed 7 months ago, the phone was installed 3 months ago :) :) :) Not sure what happened there - I'll believe it when I get the bill! I was with NTL for years at a previous address though. |
Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
Dont know if I got a good deal or not, £40.99 for 2meg BB, Family pack Digital TV, and free calls after 6pm, and anytime at the weekend, and alegedly no line rental, and the 1st months TV free.
Which is better than the £38.99 for the analogue TV base pack, 2mg BB, line rental and basic phone package, and it is going to be installed Tues.... I won't be holding my breath. Anyone got a Tivo, which is the best box to get. |
Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
And still Ntl haven't made any of you sign a 12 month contract, nice to know they still have the business sense of a chimp!
Any other company would make you sign a new contract......even Virgin mobile make you sign up for another year when you upgrade your phone (on contract obviously). Maybe Dicky will teach them some sense!! |
Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
Haven't you joined in the feeding frenzy yet, Shaun? You should (if you have any NTL services, obviously). Grab it while they're getting twitchy - all this will be over in a month or two when TalkTalk fall flat on their face.

This is ntl we're talking about here, & ntl & the word proactive don't go hand in hand..... |
Re: NTL offering package to challenge talk talk
it's not just about being proactive it should also be about being fair - ie. all customers are paying a similar rate for the same service.

They could then have gone on the marketing offensive themselves to show that their offer is better than CPW's.... However, they didn't & they are now either: 1) Losing customers to CPW. 2) Giving out large discounts to customers. 3) Peeing off existing customers who don't get offered those same discounts when they ring. 4) Losing those customers who don't get offered the discounts. Ho hum.... |
