The last public photos of the Queen certainly show someone whose race is run, and is all peace and joy. These have been astonishing days.

She only had one duty left to perform for the country and once Truss was in place she could move on.

I get this but it didn't seem they did. the family were on the way to balmoral but were already heading there after she died? Once they were in the air and the Queen was dead and they knew she was did it matter about releasing the news?

Apparently the news of Elizabeths death came out within the same time of King Georges death (when his body was found) but in the internet generation surely its quicker than ever to get the news out to the commonwealth?

Again its just an interesting point that however the royal family modernize some of the big things still keep their Victorian rigidity.

Hardly because if they did Charlie would have to abdicate due to marrying a divorcee

What difference would annoucing it 2hrs earlier made?

It was not just a matter of the royal family being informed but also all the heads of state in the commonwealth so that the announcement could be made at the same time.

The Queen's coffin is being transported around the country so the well wishers can pay their respects. Do they seriously believe that the Queen's body is ACTUALLY in this coffin?

With the risks of terrorists or even loonies trying to glue themselves to it or blow it up or steal it that the security forces would risk the body of our late Queen?

It's safely stashed in a London morgue ready for the final ceremonies.

Heero ducks waiting for red reps from the usual suspects.

Don’t be such an edgelord.

There’s no way her children would have followed it up the Royal Mile yesterday had it been empty. Nor would Princess Anne be accompanying it on an RAF flight right now. It would have been an insult to her memory.

It would have taken greatly more effort to devise a foolproof plan to ensure the body was spirited away and kept hidden than to simply observe good security. Opportunistic terrorism is phenomenally difficult to pull off because the would-be perpetrators are amateurs, while those doing the security are well trained professionals.

You know, sometimes in this world things are exactly what they appear to be and assuming reality is the opposite of whatever ‘they’ tell you doesn’t make you astute and all healthy-sceptical, it just makes you sound like a bit of a ranting conspiracy nut…

While I'm sure there isn't anything untoward I'm not sure why her children wouldn't participate it's in their interest to be part of the pomp and pageantry.

The involvement of an RAF flight is exactly the type of instrument the state would use for such a deception. Is the pilot going to ask for a look inside before he takes off? Of course not. The vast majority of participants in the charade would have no reason to do other than as they are told. The number of people required to actively be part of the deception would be tiny.

Quite nice scenes of the procession into London. People had stopped their cars on the other side of the A40(?) into London as the Queen came past and people were lining the roads.

Very emotional watching the procession on TV from RAF Northholt to Buckingham Palace.

Good old RAF.

Look at the registration for the aircraft picking up the Queen’s coffin today at Edinburgh.

hint - look at it upside-down…
