Police and military break up protests in Tehran. Crowds shouting "Kill the liars".

I hope they mean their rulers and haven't been fed a story that it's outsiders.

Did you even bother reading the link you posted ?

it says :Protesters in Tehran have chanted calls for the resignation of officials, after Iran admitted it accidentally shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane on 8 January.

Relatives and friends of those who died held a vigil near the Amirkabir University of Technology on Saturday.

Videos uploaded to social media show a crowd gathered, with some chanting for their country's leaders to resign and calling officials "liars".

Breaking:

Quote:

Quote from The Sun: THE Iranian authorities have arrested some of those involved in shooting down a packed passenger plane in Tehran, it's been reported.

This morning's news comes as the country's president vowed those linked to the "unforgivable error" will be punished.

Hassan Rouhani said: "Iranian armed forces admitting their mistake is a good first step.

"We should assure people that it will not happen again" however he admitted his government was "accountable to Iranian and other nations who lost lives".

Iran's judiciary spokesman then revealed some suspects have been arrested for their role in the tragedy - but he did not give any further details.

As if to prove nothing has really changed in Iran, they’re now trying to arrest the person who filmed the missile strike.

Whistle blowers get short shrift everywhere but more so in Iran. Iran is more like multiple personality disorder government every year.

If in doubt shoot the messenger.

I wonder what will happen to the newscasters that resigned over having to lie for many years?

Quote:

Quote from International Business Times: Two news anchors at the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) resigned from their jobs amid the calling for the ouster of current government leaders, following the admission to "unintentionally" shooting down of a Ukrainian passenger plane.

Zara Khatami and Saba Rad thanked their followers for their unwavering support. “Thank you for your support in all years of my career. I announce that after 21 years working in radio and tv, I cannot continue my work in the media. I cannot,” Rad said, per The Guardian. “Thank you for accepting me as anchor until today. I will never get back to TV. Forgive me,” Khatami stated.

Gelare Jabbari, who quit her job some time ago, also apologized to her followers on social media. On Sunday, the former television presenter asked her supporters to forgive her for several years of promulgating falsehoods and fabricated stories on behalf of the Iranian government.

“It was very hard for me to believe that our people have been killed. Forgive me that I got to know this late. And forgive me for the 13 years I told you lies,” Jabbari wrote on Instagram. However, the media personality’s profile was deactivated just a few hours after the posting. The Iranian government has yet to comment on Jabbari’s claims.

If I were them I'd be getting out pronto.

Quote:

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday said Qassem Soleimani was killed as part of a broader strategy of deterring challenges by U.S. foes that also applies to China and Russia, further diluting the assertion that the top Iranian general was struck because he was plotting imminent attacks on U.S. targets.

In his speech at Stanford University’s Hoover Institute, Pompeo made no mention of the threat of imminent attacks planned by Soleimani. It only was in response to a question that he repeated his earlier assertion that pre-empting such plots was the reason for the Jan. 3 American drone strike on Iran’s second most powerful official.

His speech, “The Restoration of Deterrence: The Iranian Example,” focused on what he called an administration strategy to establish “real deterrence” against Iran following earlier Republican and Democratic policies that encouraged Tehran’s “malign activity.”

Democratic and some Republican lawmakers have challenged the administration over the self-defense rationale supported by undisclosed intelligence over imminent attacks. U.S. President Donald Trump has said the potential targets included four U.S. embassies.

On Sunday, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said he had seen no intelligence forewarning of imminent attacks on embassies.

Trump on Monday added new fuel to the controversy by saying “it really doesn’t matter” whether Soleimani posed an imminent threat.

Iraq’s prime minister revealed that he was due to be meeting the Iranian commander to discuss moves being made to ease the confrontation between Shia Iran and Sunni Saudi Arabia – the crux of so much of strife in the Middle East and beyond.

Adil Abdul-Mahdi was quite clear: “I was supposed to meet him in the morning the day he was killed, he came to deliver a message from Iran in response to the message we had delivered from the Saudis to Iran.”

Apart from anything else, that article is from 3 days after my post, therefore my post was perfectly valid at the time.

If by "valid" you mean "not based on any actual evidence or facts, but just your opinion", yes, it's true, it was valid*... ;)

*valid - having a sound basis in logic or fact; reasonable or cogent

Does that mean opinions are no longer allowed?
