very moving scenes which I would have liked to have scene in the film minus Dr Strange. Given the gravitas of the scene as soon as I saw Dr Strange I thought "why aren't you doing your twirly wristy thing to bring him back, you did it with the apple and whatever else?"

Technically they were the "New Avengers"

I’m not ashamed to admit that scene when the Falcon’s voice comes through Cap’s earpiece and says "on your left" and everyone appears through the gates behind Cap still brings a lump to my throat…

yup, and it is those kind of moments which make Marvel films so special. All hope was lost and they could have easily gone about it a different way and had a missile or something else more actiony from the Wakandan's come through a portal over his shoulder and create an explosion which would have also created a sense of excitement and relief from the audience but they chose to make it a special nostalgic character lead moment like they always go. This is why the Marvel films are so special compared to DC and any other movies. It is always about the characters, relationships and emotions. It is hard to explain when you need to type it out and I think I have tried twice before for peeps who don't understand and disagree with me but that trailer goes a long way to explaining it for me.

To be fair most good films are about characters, relationships and emotions. I think what made that moment so big was that they've been carefully crafting this interconnected world for the last decade and the Portals scene was the well-earned culmination of all that work.

It was well-done as well, you spent the whole film wondering when everyone would turn up but it was still hair-raising when they did. It would be so easy for that moment to be an anti-climax but they delivered on it perfectly.

For some reason, it always reminds me of the Apollo 13 moment when ground control finally hears the voices come through. You know it's coming but it still feels amazing when it does.

That’s compelling human drama for you. It arrests you and keeps you in the moment so even when something totally expected happens (like all the Disappeared heroes showing up, or Apollo 13’s various close shaves) it still has the power to shock, amaze and delight.

And it’s just clicked the words the Falcon used are a callback to the running scene around the National Mall in DC in Captain America:The Winter Soldier, the first time they met.
