Six Shinners takes the winning post down to 323. The DUP have 10. It seems the Tories are going to get more than 314, so with a little delicate negotiation they should be able to get the DUP on board and have a working majority, if a slim one. Whoever the Tory PM is, is going to have a very delicate balancing act to do.

And let's not even start trying to factor in how many by-elections there are likely to be in the next five years. Squeaky bum time.

Do you not think there is going to be another election? Scrapping past the post with the help of the DUP isn't going to work for 5 years.

They'll be mad to call another one. They would almost certainly lose more seats.

Extremely precarious. It's not clear who can replace her though, although I can't help wondering whether David Davis might have his eye on her job.

It's not at all clear how there's time for a Tory leadership contest though, with Brexit negotiations getting started in less than a fortnight.

I don't think so. I think if they changed leader, had a more inclusive campaign with an actual offer to the electorate other than 'Brexit means Brexit' and a better campaign they could do it...

Either way is a government with a handful of seats as a majority propped up by the DUP is going to a nightmare for 5 years.

I think the hard Brexit mandate isn't there. Labour support Brexit, it's happening, but I am less sure on the type of Brexit.

According to one source just now l hear its 50/50 that she could go tomorrow and apparently Boris is always manoeuvring for the top job.

I can't see the party putting Boris forward for it, not with Brexit now at the very gates.

With just 27 seats left to declare, turnout is running at 68.6% - the highest for a UK general election since 1997.
