Re: Revealed: The truth about supermarket 'bargains'
I only ever buy treats in the dogfood section ;) GSD stomachs tend to be a bit finicky so they get fed a home made food (I do a big pot every 7 days with 2.5kg of chicken, 1kg rice and half kg of chicken livers) then mix it with rusk just before feeding. Unlike dog food they never get bored of it.. Supplement that with veggie and other food leftovers and they have a more balanced diet than I do!!!

Given the state of many people's mental arithmetic I reckon a good number of the public would consider "Two For The Price of Three" a real bargain. :) |

As this thread shows, many retailers, especially the large ones (which does include supermarkets), try to pull the wool over the consumers eyes by making out that they are getting a good deal when they are not. Now the difference between retailers buying, and consumers buying, is that retailers are paying huge sums of money for large quantities. So if a wholesaler tried to make out that something was on special offer, when really it was more expensive, then an experienced buyer would spot it a mile off. I have never said that wholesalers don't do special offers, as they do. But the difference is that they wouldn't get away with trying to con the retailers. |
