No, but it's a bit different isn't it? - Virgin don't charge for HD on XL. Any company in their right mind would want to keep revenue constant. When Sky initially drop the price for SS as recommended, I just have a feeling that the HD wholesale increase will pretty much compensate for the Sky HD channels now being offered....hopefully

As a new VM customer that has just left Sky HD this is fantastic news! :D

Now with the premium Sky channels in HD combined with VMs top draw on demand service I believe I'm a subscriber of the best TV package in the land.

Is Sky News HD also coming to Virgin?

and if you dont subcribe to Sky movies and Sky Sports that an addition of 3 channels 2 of which hardly anyone will ever use. it seems an even crapper deal the more it gets churned especially as the only anvantage is Sky 1 HD if you not a sports or movie subcriber.

HD football has been asked for more than any other content on these forums, IMO, next to Sky 1 HD. Now VM have both, along with other must-haves like the red button. With ESPN HD only having 23 EPL games for 3 seasons from the start of next season, this deal is good timing.

A crap deal? That's speculation.

Virgin will now have 29 HD channels and have wiped out the UPS of their main competitor, in exchange for the sale of channels which I personally, haven't watched that much for eons now.

the thing is football does not interest me !!!!

im more a motorsport fan and with F1 being on BBC, BTCC on ITV along with the DTM, super league, F3 and GT1 on ESPN and the offerings on Eurpsort HD with WTCC and F2 im more than covered. sure Sky 1 is a good channel to have and we will finally get The Simpsons in HD but thats the only advantage of it for me. SS and SM offer me nothing i want or need so for me its a pretty pointless deal and a sellout to me to have access to 1 extra channel.

unless VM offer SS1 and 2 for Free to XL customers (which i highly doubt will happen) the whole deal is not woth much to me at all as im not too fussed on having to subscribe.

good for you but many dont trust sky trogan horse bearing gifts for the sale of these channels.

I agree with joff81 this is a useless deal for likely majority not everybody wants to give that company money or premier***** more greedy money.

With the likelyhood Sky force virgin to drop HD from XL and make new HD subscription service.

I have not watched sky pap for along time 24 was good at first but became like a soap opera churn rubbish.

However the likelyhood bravo , living and virgin will become pap hybrid sky channels with the worst garbage. They well make sure Sky will take the best and put it on sky one.

There no way they will keep the best shows like sparton on bravo or chuck.

Sky will ruin them with stupid rubbish like another simpsons garbage channel. Dare I say even remove them all together.

The only HD channel that is affected by this sale is Living HD

All the other channels are independent of either Sky or VM when it comes to the carriage agreement so Sky cannot force Virgin to change where they are placed.

Whatever you think of Sky I'm not sure why they would do this. The value of the channels is in the brand and the viewers. If Sky wanted to programs to put on Sky 1 they could have just bid for them in the first place.

If Sky 'asset strip' they channels then they are making their own purchase worthless
