But Gary - your logic only works if there were only 3 in the finaly; there were 10 in the final, not 3; the top three out of the 10 then did not have another round to find out who came first, second and third.

I can see this is going to go round in circles, as your definitions of reality, fact and logic often is dissonant with the widely accepted versions of those words.

Ooooh - sore loser, or what. :D

If Brown had been on BGT, and he came second, he would not have left the stage, and would have insisted he had won, because a majority of voters did not vote for the first place contestant.;)

So is the other method where there's no such thing as coming last. you have to call it the number of the position you came in?

"how did you get on in the competition son?"
"I came last"
"how many were there of you?"
"2,645"
"you came 2,645th then son"

No, there were 3 in the final. the other 7 were out the first part of the final. then we moved on to another final where there were 3 to choose from :)

There were two finals?

Was there two sets of voting in these two finals?

Yes, just after the final 3 went through to the decider.

Would you accept that 3rd place would be last place if there was two sets of voting?

He came third out of ten. The tenth person came last. Their was only one part of the final, the one where there was only one vote. The vote that took place between the last act and when the polls closed. The acts that came first second and third were called separately by the presenters of the show to add tension to the last part of the television programme. Is that clearer now?

But there wasn't two sets of voting, unless I missed something.

It doesn't matter. all that matters is out of 10 people 3 get chosen as the top 3. and then that top 3 get a position of 1st 2nd and 3rd place. the other 7 are irrelevant now as there's only 3 positions to pick a winner from.

the winner is the one who got the most votes. the loser being the one with the least votes.

simples.

But the winner wasn't picked form three, they were picked from ten. One, two, three, four, five, six............ do I really need to show you how counting works? There was no separate count for the ones who came first second and third, it was the same count as the final ten. The one who got the least number of votes, was the act that came tenth. Did the third placed act get fewer votes than the act that came tenth?
