Not saying it is incorrect (as DAZN were definitely in the mix) however I would prefer to wait for a reputable paper to carry the information rather than that rag.

Seems to be largely a copy and paste job of the Reuters story on the same subject, it’s now in a few of the UK rags.

I’m quite entertained by this gem:

But analysts have said BT Sport's value contribution has been hard to define, and some investors have balked at the risk of bidding for expensive rights.
I thought it was easy to make a profit on sports rights.

Disney+ should be the priority, but it depends on how long until Sky's period of exclusivity ends.

Discovery+, Apple TV+ and BritBox would all be nice additions too.

The number of Netflix subscribers grew to 222 million last year, but the streaming firm is facing a rocky road ahead as the surge of interest it saw during the pandemic fades.

Overall, Netflix added 18.2 million members last year - roughly half the number who subscribed in 2020.

Investors had hoped that pace would start to pick up again.

But the firm's 2022 forecast brought bad news, sending shares down almost 20% in after-hours trade.

The firm said it expected to add just 2.5 million members in the three months to March - far lower than analysts had expected.

The way Netflix are being aggressive with VPNs which end up blocking residential ip addresses too i can see Netflix losing a lot more subscribers.

750,000 people could leave Netflix if the show they’ve already watched leaves Netflix? That’s a bit of a stretch.

I don’t think they’re going to be excessively concerned about this. Sure they’d rather not lose subs but their transition from video library to original content creator is hardly news. They will think that in the long run their catalogue of material they have commissioned and own will mitigate the worst of that loss.

Disney Takes Exclusive WWE Network Streaming Rights In Indonesia, A Potential Prelude To Deals In Other Territories

Quote:

Disney and the WWE have reached a deal for the WWE Network to stream exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar in Indonesia, a potential prelude to other global pacts.

The move follows that of the WWE Network, a pioneering direct-to-consumer service, to NBCUniversal’s Peacock in the U.S. last spring. That $1 billion agreement netted the WWE a significant revenue boost and execs have signaled plans to leverage streaming rights around the world. The Indonesia setup kicks off on January 30 with the Royal Rumble, an annual event held in Saudi Arabia.

Similar to the Peacock arrangement, all WWE live events will be available on Disney+ Hotstar as part of a standard subscription, at no additional cost. Programming will stream in Indonesia’s local language, Bahasa Indonesia, as well as in English

The pact is the first streaming agreement reached directly between Disney and the WWE, but the companies are understood to have held preliminary discussions for other territories

Interesting about the WWE Network. I could see discussions ongoing with Disney Plus and the UK now they've got the network on their horizon...

When it comes, we'll end up having to pay for yet another streaming subscription if we want the content..so happy for it not to come!

A lot of HBO Max programming isn't on Sky either because Sky aren't interested like Gossip Girl or have said they have no plans to air them like Peacemaker or because they aren't Warner bros distributed like Station Eleven (on StarzPlay) , Made For Love , Love Life and Hacks , other shows like Pennyworth , Doom Patrol and Titans that moved to HBO Max still remain on StarzPlay or Netflix.

Foxtel in Australia have better Warner Bros deal than Sky they exclusive rights to new Warner Bros shows outside HBO/HBO Max like The Cleaning Lady, Superman and Lois , Kung Fu , Batwoman and Manifest.

I imagine Warner will take the rights back and launch HBO Max in Australia in the next few years.

WarnerMedia extended their deal with Sky New Zealand last summer;

https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/126...ds-warner-deal

To me that would suggest the Foxtel pact was for several years much like Sky’s over here… that essentially serves the NZ market until the point they can launch a proposition in both countries simultaneous.

I use a VPN, and a lot of programmes are available online on the US Channels’ websites (I use my bro-in-law’s HBO account for some programmes).

They have to be very careful increasing by that here especially with the way other household bills are set to rise.

I said it was coming Timelord has confirmed it with the link he posted.
You can be sure the UK price rise is on it's way in due course and will be a similar price raise.
As MM said they need to be careful with how living costs are rising.
Other streamers need to be careful too on their price rises, as do the likes of vm, sky etc.

So, first they just announce they are making as much money as expected, then they need to increase prices. :td:

I get prime for one month a year (to cover Christmas) but tbh, the more they put it up, the less even that looks a good deal anymore.

Now that prime has moved a lot of its TV output to advert infested IMDB.TV it's looking even poorer value.

DAZN blown out of the water by Discovery in the bid for BT Sports.

The article I read in the Telegraph, suggested DAZN continually raised conditions as each was resolved they raised another.

The main stumbling block may well have been DAZN wanting BT to underwrite any customer cancellations after the deal (which BT refused outright)

Still a nail in the streamer coffin OB;)

I’m still struggling to believe how this streaming world is anymore beneficial to the companies , we have a couple we sub to all year then the others we just dip in and out of as and when.

Same here I sub to Netflix and Prime, anything else I watch via the CinemaHD app or Kodi, I'm certainly not paying for every service.
