COM4:

COM5:
*New slot

COM6:

*Where ''Seen on TV'' did broadcast from.

COM4 - Not confirm:
*Where ''Shop on TV/Together TV'' is broadcast from outside Wales.

That's not free, the reason Shop On TV etc are only available outside Wales is because Wales has E4+1 on SDN. The D3&4 slot, normally used for E4+1, is occupied by S4C in Wales. (from memory)

Interesting choice of multiplex, maximum geographical coverage but not available to all UK DTT devices. No way of knowing the current proportion of still in use Freeview devices that are DVB-T2, but the ratings change for U&Eden should give an idea of this and Freesat’s current reach.

One of my still regularly used DTT devices is DVB-T so will miss out.

The PSB3 multiplex is also known as BBC B.

Eden is own by BBC Studios

So maybe it costing BBC Studios nothing to broadcast Eden on Freeview.

I still can't work out why BBC Studios are not also.

*Moving U&Yesterday +1 from COM6 to PSB3
*Launching both U&Eden +1 and U&W +1 on Freeview via PSB3.

PSB3 has over 10Mbs free on multiplex

As of October 18th 2024:

Here is the up to date list of space on Freeview being unused.

24 hours slots (For sale right now):
Old ''Talk Linear'' slot on SDN/COM4.
Old ''Seen on TV'' slot on COM6.

24 hours slots (For sale in coming months):
Old ''Al Jazeera English'' slot on COM6. (Not for sale until December 23rd 2024).

Part time slots:
Together TV slot on SDN/COM4 not in Wales (6pm to Midnight only).

Everyone TV (Owner of Freeview) rules say ''A channel provider may cease to make a channel available for up to 12 weeks in any rolling 12-month period without losing its LCN. The channel provider should notify Everyone TV in advance in writing of its intention to temporarily cease broadcasting its channel. If the channel does not resume broadcasting within the 12-week time limit, then the LCN will be deemed vacated and can be re-allocated by Everyone TV in accordance with this Policy.

So base on that Policy.
I feels that would also mean that BBC, D3&4, SDN or Arqiva can't give their slot to a other broadcaster under a '12-week time limit has ended.'' All information right at time of posting.

I'm surprised that Pop has closed their local linear services. I always assumed that this was done as a workaround to keep their EPG number to use to broadcast to the whole of the UK when suitable capacity became available, rather than any local viewers that they might get.

MY OWN VIEWS - Nothing you are about to read has NOT been confirmed yet.

I feel it down to the following:

A) Children watch more things via streaming.
B) One deal that Narrative has is up at midnight on December 31st. (I would think with Arqiva's COM6)

Where is Narrative Channels broadcasting on Freeview right now.

Local Mux:
*Pop - now streaming
*Pop Max - close
*Tiny Pop - now streaming

COM4:
*GREAT! action
*Pop Player

COM6:
*GREAT! movies
*GREAT! tv/GREAT! tv +1
*GREAT! romance/GREAT! romance mix
*Pop Up

I feel the following may happen to the Narrative Channels soon on Freeview.

Local Mux:
LINEAR Channels;
*GREAT Movies
*GREAT Action
*GREAT Romance/GREAT romance mix
*Pop Up (Streaming Channel)

Streaming^
*Pop
*Tiny Pop

COM4:
*GREAT! action > GREAT tv/GREAT tv +1
*Pop Player

COM6:
*GREAT! movies - moves to Local Mux
*GREAT! tv/GREAT! tv +1 - moves to COM4
*GREAT! romance/GREAT! romance mix - Moves to Local Mux
*Pop Up - Moves to Local Mux.

^Local Mux DID broadcast streaming channels before December 1st.

-New Media TV
-Global Arabic +

But that just my own views - so it may not happen.

They are only kids genre EPG numbers, with that genre, the number range is shared with streamed channels. They get to keep the slot whether it is a traditional or a streamed channel.

Be aware that Freely currently only delivers the PSB channels in IP format (roughly the equivalent of a Freeview relay transmitter). To get the full Freeview channel availablility you still need to connect a Freely TV to a rooftop aerial pointed at a transmitter that carries the COM muxes. A Freely TV will work on any Broadband connection, so you could use one now. It's just a different type of SMART TV.

Ah, of course, never really had either myself, forgot there were the two 'free' versions.
I think we had the satellite in our bedroom once, years ago, for the wife, but she never really used it.
Never had freeview (would have needed a new aerial iirc).

Cruise1st TV has today launch on Virgin Media.

When I was watching early today Cruise1st TV's Derek Marks did say that the launch on Virgin Media is part of the channel expanding plans for 2025.

Do that mean????

*Launch on Freeview/Freely?
*Launch on Freesat?

For Your Info:

Together TV DO NOT PAY to broadcasting on any network & is given any FREE space on Freeview by the owner of the Multiplex who are:

*BBC (BBC A & BBC B)
*ITV & C4 (D3 & 4)
*ITV (SDN aka COM4)
*Arqiva (COM5 & COM6)
*That's Media (Manchester Mux)
*That's Media's Canis Media (Local Mux)

---------- Post added at 21:08 ---------- Previous post was at 21:03 ----------

So if let say Cable Forum wanted to launch a part time channel on Freeview they can take over Together TV slot on SDN if Cable Forum are willing to pay the fees.

I have just been seen info from Facebook that the Create & Craft's administrators has sold The Craft Store brand to an yet unnamed company.

Facebook says the yet to be named new company will relaunch The Craft Store soon.

More information set to be reveal on Thursday Night (January 9th).

Facebook is reporting that a yet unnamed company is own by Paul Wright (Ex Hochanda Global Ltd Director from August 2019 to December 2023).

Facebook is also reporting that this new company was incorporated on January 8th 2025.

Update - I have just found out that the new The Craft Store will be owned by THE CRAFT STORE LIMITED

Following info from Company House:

In their 2022 results (last results reported by GINX TV) GINX TV did reveal that GINX TV need to pay-off TWO loans by January 31st 2025.

Also two directors has left in the last 6 months.

I have only seen two years Accounts for GINX TV (2021 & 2022) and they did lose £1,201,103 in that time.

Is BBC B Mux not set to close by November 2026?

The BBC and The BBC (Free to View) has still to ask OFCOM for an 10 year renewal for both BBC's BBC A (SD) Mux and BBC Studio's BBC B Mux.

I remember it was suggested this is because the Charter Renewal still has to happen, so they will be waiting to see how that looks before renewing.

BBC A licensing IS part of the BBC's Royal Charter.

The reason I mentioned BBCA was because the stream for BBC Scotland Channel isn’t used elsewhere in the UK even though they reconfigured the other multiplexes when they added it for Scotland.

A wild stab in the dark here but maybe just a consolidation of licences. The many and varied Narrative Great! brand channels on DTT are all covered by licence DTPS100011BA/52 and GREAT! movies is a named service on that licence. I'd have to check to be sure and I'm not sure if that is possible. Ofcom don't make details of surrendered licences easily accessible to the public.

Update: Now confirmed by UKTTVC as a licence consolidation.

They don't do updates on holidays when the staff are likely to be absent. There is nobody around to pick up the pieces if something goes wrong.
I can't say I've heard of them not having updates because the staff may have kids who happen to be on holiday.

Also NVTV becomes That's TV (Belfast) and Sheffield Live becomes That's TV (Sheffield).
And a few renumbered channels on Freely with no meaningful pattern. e.g. 79 moves to 77 (S4C except Wales), 149 moves to 140 (That's TV 3 (MCR)), 150 moves to 141 (Rewind TV). 151 stays on 151 (U&Eden).

A UKTTVC investigation showed that the S4C channel number change happened much earlier in April between the official dates used by Everyone TV for updates. Although they don't have logs to confirm the actual date of the change. S4C, however, have confirmed that the channel number was changed on April 1st.

Re: Freeview changes

I don’t think it has always been this way, but That’s TV 3 on PSB2 (aka D3&4) Multiplex is in MPEG4!

Just been made aware of this just now when I looked at the DTT multiplex timeshare information page I look at occasionally. This is their most recent change. https://xhxf.uk/timeshares/

This means unless you have a HD Freeview tuner (or one of those DVB-T models that got sold with MPEG4 as it sold outside the UK market) then you can’t see a channel broadcast on a DVB-T Multiplex. DVB-T, though capable of carrying MPEG4, has only carried MPEG2 in the UK up until now, and that was what was part of the original Digital Terrestrial specs in the UK. The only Multiplex carrying MPEG4 in the UK up until this point has been PSB3 (aka BBC-B) which carries the HD channels (and in recent years a few SD channels).

My initial reaction was it can’t be correct, it’s reducing who can see it, but DigitalBitRate also says it. https://www.digitalbitrate.com/dtv.p...live=9&lang=en

Is this an experiment to see whether anyone notices/complains? The aim, to move an entire Multiplex to MPEG4, fitting in more channels without the cost/effort of converting the multiplexes to DVT-T2 first, so ultimately they can close a DTT Multiplex sooner.

Seems That’s TV 3 changed to MPEG4 on 10th June. There’s a thread on Digital Spy’s forums.

I have tried viewing it an MPEG2 box and can confirm it doesn’t work, but the other channels on the Mux , as expected, do. I have a TV that is DVB-T only but I think is MPEG4 capable, so I will check that later.

I have now checked it and That’s TV 3 does indeed work, and on the channel info it shows ACC where it shows MPEG for all the other channels.

So the change is confirmed.

4Seven is set to move from COM5 to ITV and Channel 4 owned multiplex D3 & 4 as soon as June 18th.

This move will mean 4Seven will appear in more areas on Freeview.

4Seven has started to test on D3 & 4 on June 13th.

Surprised they aren’t closing the channel on all platforms given their financial issues.
