Well lets hope Kane beats Shearer's record on Boxing Day.

He has equalled the number of goal, but done it 8 games quicker.

Kane breaks an unquantifiable record.

Shame there is not as much interest in the disgusting animal called alli.

Deliberately elbowing Targett in the face. I bet there's no trial by television about that.

Alli belongs in a zoo not on a football pitch.

Yes Den not lookibg good.

Clueless manager who can't decide on any team formation so the players have no idea where they should be playing.

You said you didn't want him any more so it will be interesting to see what happens..... will he be another lovren?

Rest assured barely a fraction of the money will be reinvested in my team. It is all earmarked for back pockets. :(

Well there's the blueprint to beat Man City. A team with better attacking options can copy that and do it. Many will view it as negative but City were knackered and there for the taking come the end. I don't mind them doing an invincible to be fair though.

I'm really starting to change my opinions on Pep. He's really starting to look like a Managerial God.

Nike have basically announced Coutinho to Barcelona. :erm:

Ashley Young though, a great snake of English football. I guess he's passed flopping to the ground. Isn't even a hard decision for the FA. Whilst there at it. They should retrospectively ban him for his dives over the years. That should set him into retirement.

Its not nice having it in for someone but the guy really is one of the most prolific cheaters the premier league has seen. If Roy Keane thinks you're a disgrace you're definitely doing something wrong.

Sadly in football cheats prosper nowadays as the authorities worldwide have given carte blanche to it in these last 20 years due to their clear inactiveness to act on it by punishing those who do it with a stern deterrent

Mike Dean gonna Mike Dean. What can you do?

What's annoying is that he booked Cech after the game for questioning him. He booked Wilshere in the aftermath but that looked like Wilshere got too angry and deserved it. Cech however seems quite reasonable and didn't look too animated other than asking the question.

Re: Season 2017/2018

West Ham moved on Shelvey a few days ago apparently. Mitrovic was said to be a target for West Ham too. Today, Newcastle and Benitez have held talks about re-signing Andy Carroll but have now said they're ruling that out as Benitez has little interest in the player. I can only assume a swap deal was on the cards.

At Newcastle though, we have absolutely no idea what's going on regarding January spending. Officially all we know is Ashley and Staveley met, £300m was agreed upon and we'd likely not hear anything official again for at least 30 days. That's still 17-18 days away I think. There was a leak suggesting an announcement tomorrow but I think that's really unlikely. The other suggested as above that the actual buyer is the Saudi royals which is pretty likely. We're in the dark about what financial commitment has been given for this window though. You've got a guy trying to sell so is naturally bit hesitant in investment.

Suspect the chairman's would have really preferred the draws to be away for a mega pay day. However nice one for the fans.
I have been to one of these minnow v giant matches. Its a brilliant day, whatever the result. The 'premier' team' were scared to death, wouldn't use the changing rooms, and changed at their hotel ! Couldn't get in and out quick enough ;).
The minnows do have a genuine chance on their home turf in these matches. The millionaires just want to avoid injury. Desire and passion can win on over skill sometimes.

Fair play to the Robins, they gave it a real good go, and I very much doubt there will be the same rows of empty seats at Ashton Gate for the second leg as there was at The Emptyhead Stadium tonight.

13,000 empty seats. :(

Given that Bristol City took 7680 supporters it means that only around 35.700 City supporters bothered to turn up for a Cup Semi Final.

Well Barca are now the only unbeaten team in Europe’s top five leagues, but maybe not for much longer.;)

Check out the referee in the PSG vs Nantes game. He cuts off a Nantes player and ends up on the floor, he then takes a swipe at the Nantes player before getting up, sending him off and awarding PSG a free kick. One of the worst refereeing breakdowns and absolute failures I've ever seen. Expecting a huge ban for the referee and naturally the Nantes card overturned.

Iirc you can't appeal cards in any country other than Britain and I don't think FIFA are happy about that either

Cyrille Regis has died aged 59 :(

Thanks, TIL. It was absolutely bizarre. Here's a legitimate link and video

Cyrille Regis RIP. Before my time as a footballer but a pretty big part and reference when I did education into racism in domestic football alongside hooliganism. Particularly the NF coach incident.

RIP Cyrille as he will always be remembered as a legendary Boing Boing Baggie.

Diego Carlos Red card overturned and Referee suspended after Nantes - PSG train wreck refereeing moment.

Not sure if TD's comments above still stand as I don't believe the card was actually appealed, just overturned by the governing body without appeal.

I think I heard it a while back on either world football phone in or trans euro express, pretty sure it was Andy brassel that said we had a unique appeals process in European football, I did a quick Google and it only seems to bring up English matches so read into that what you want!! It did bring up a champions league game where psg couldn't appeal Zlatans red, they'd only accept mistaken identity as grounds for appeal

I understand what Mark Hughes meant when he said no one else would do his job, no wonder so many turned it down.

A brief flourish in first 15 minutes then nothing from Stoke at OT tonight. Could and should have been five or six.

A side full of players well past their sell by date, Peter Crouch, Joe Allen, Stephen Ireland, Darren Fletcher plus a few who will never amount to much, possibly the worst side I have seen at OT this season.
