Amazing....

Liverpool reveal Klinsmann talks

Quote:

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks says he held talks with Jurgen Klinsmann in November about taking over as manager in case Rafael Benitez left the club. Mixed performances and a row with Hicks and co-owner George Gillett on transfer policy put Benitez's position in doubt.
I am sure Benitez will be over the moon to hear this news, surely it will only be a matter of time before Benitez walks out on Liverpool ?
Maybe it's the idea behind the revelation though ?

It looks like Keegan may have saved the day for Swansea, or has he ?

Never mind Russ, the beauty of the FA Cup and all that...

Russ 16-01-2008 23:04

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008

Actually I don't mind too much - it's the FA Cup. As odd as that sounds, it's the place where bigger clubs get knocked out by lower league sides. Oh and also where cheating players can get sent off in matches and still take part in the replay.

Still, Martinez has done an excellent job - 3 points clear at the top of Division One isn't so bad, can't wait for the Championship next season :)

Just looking at the stats from last nights Man City game, one shot on target. Depending on which set of figures you read it appears that our illustrious neighbours have managed less than ten shots on target in their last four games in total. I think United had at least 15 on target in the one game against Newcastle, no wonder the stands at Man City were half empty last night.:p:

Its great to watch games like that as a 'neutral' supporter ;):), Arsenal second team well stuffed, but just a minute, Sagna, Gallas, Traore, Fabregas, Hleb, Adeybayor, Eduardo, Gilberto, it was most of the 1st team, oh dear.:D

Hmm

Defiant boss Arsene Wenger insists the match stats prove Arsenal were the better side in Tuesday's humiliating 5-1 Carling Cup semi-final thrashing by arch-rivals Tottenham. (Daily Mirror)

Mind you when England beat Germany 5-1 they had more shots and more possession so  guess you can put a positive spin on anything, except the actual score line

You can't just go by match stats. A shot on target could be a shoot that rolls along the ground straight at the goalkeeper, not really a chance is it? You need to convert the chances which they didn't.

A bit disappointed at the result at Boundary Park yesterday, :(

Cheered up today with the Man United result, felt even better after the Man City game.:D

Did anyone else see that tackle by Robert Huth on Saturday, can't find a vid of it yet.

It wasn't really 'over the ball', it was over all three of them, serious GBH in my book. Sad thing is he got a yellow so according to the rules he can't be punished further.

It was Van Der Saar that caused havoc by going up for the corner that got us the goal :) A goal we probably didn't deserve even though Spurs goal had a hand ball in it ;)

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008

Not one of them players deserved to wear the red of United today. SAF should of bought another striker in January. I mean Saha has had more sick notes than Darren Anderton. Ship him out and go buy another decent striker who doesn't get injured every other week. Oh and let Wes Brown go in the summer, he's about as useful as an ash tray on a motorbike anyway.

Nani again was poor. I would of played Carrick and Hargreaves from the start.

Disgusted.

Should have been 8 or 9 at least, Uniteds finishing today was shocking,;)

That dive from Addebayor was worthy of a straight red it was that bad, and United played with ten men from the start to give you a chance, there must be a back hander from somewhere to make Fergie play Park, he is useless.:(

He has only just come back from a year out injured, i think he deserves a chance.

He was rubbish even before he got injured, runs around a lot, absolutely no touch on the ball, completely bottles almost every chance he gets, sorry but he is just no up to snuff for United.

Jim.

Good to see the Holes getting petulant in the second half when losing ;) :D

Did Adebayour receive an electric shock just before he got booked? ;)

Full draw for FA Cup quarter-finals:

Sheffield United or Middlesbrough v Cardiff City
Manchester United v Portsmouth
Bristol Rovers v West Brom
Barnsley v Chelsea

Matches to be played on the weekend of 8 and 9 March.

Another premiership team for United, i can see a repeat of last years final coming.

Could be worse, you could be drawn against York City :)

Kind of reminds me when Henrik Larsson did the same playing for Celtic.

I don't like Liverpool, bloody idiotic players of theirs hitting one of ours for no reason, ours hit him back and got a red card.

How funny was Gallas losing the plot at the end of the Birmingham game :D

Seems he's gone as mental as Gazza :D

Good result for Spurs, by far the better team over 120 minutes, a pity the ref went yellow card crazy at the end though, still it was nice to see Diddling Dogbreath losing it after the final whistle.:D

The tortoise should have started with J Cole, Anelka was useless and Terry and Lampard seemed jaded.

Jim.
