Morning life insurance call from some random company.
Are you interested in life insurance sir?
Nope, no point.
Why not sir we offer a wide range of cover

Excellent.

Reminds me of when I moved into this place, the previous owner had died, though not in the house I hasten to add. So I was getting cold calling for her:

Hello, can I talk to Mrs XYZ?
No, she's dead. (Stunned silence)
Well can I talk to you?
No. Goodbye.

Brrrrrr....

My little ole sister has got me a ticket to see "Russell Howard's Good News"

She has signed up to Applause Store and they sent out tickets, all free but you have to get there yourself.

She's got me to see, Argumental, and QI, and now we are waiting for Top Gear (about 6 years so far)

Sunshine blazing down, warm, two loads of laundry out on the line. Three clients all wanting quotes for work that they're wanting me to do. A splendid day. Probably round it off with a pint at the local. :)

So pleased for our Steven he has just bought himself his first car it's a 64 plate pre registered Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 ecoFLEX S 3d, 5 miles on the clock. Cheap road tax £30.00 per year, cheap insurance and it will do him just fine for getting from A to B. Sensible lad to take into account the running costs IMO glad he took on board the advice his Dad gave him.

That's a very nice first car. The small petrol engine will probably be less troublesome than a diesel, especially if he's doing short journeys.

He will only use it for Uni and his part time job at our local Sainsburys. To keep the insurance low he limited the miles to 10,000 per year.
It is his first car and it isn't as we bought him a wee 51 plate Corsa 4 years ago, but this one is well and truly his as he saved half the cost of the car for a deposit and has insured it all by himself and more importantly the car is in his name. I'm so chuffed for him :) I really am.

Our happy thought - we've found a local charity run club where Osem Jnr #2 can hopefully go to chill out for a couple of hours with other young people with a variety of special needs. Just come back from our second visit and it was so nice seeing his face as he realised he would be getting something just for him for a change. Usually he's just the passenger in the car when we're ferrying his big bro everywhere so it was great to see some recognition and excitement in his face as we arrived at his new club. Fingers crossed we can work something out re. his medical issues etc. which the staff will need to be fully aware of.

Wishing Osem Jnr #2 my best wishes with his new club, I bet his wee face was a picture Osem when he realised that this was just for him. I'm quite sure that you will be able so sort out the wee man's medical issues out with the club, I'm also certain that he will have a great time at the club.

Nothing nicer than the smell of home cooking heero, especially freshly baked bread. The only smell in my house at the moment is the two yankee candles burning (Spiced Orange) as we are having a takeaway tonight.

Put my car insurance details into Google and got 5 outline quotes around £150. Even my current insurer showed up as £188 when they sent me a renewal notice for £380. That's trying it on. Think I'll phone up retentions and smack that smug looking mut hard. They can't automatically renew it as they don't have a valid card to charge it to.

Best was AA and as I'm a long term gold card member might even get a bit more off. :)

Got my insurance quote the only wanted £375, for 23 years no claims.

Because they think that people are so dumb they won't challenge it. Always do a look on a comparison site each year at renewal time. Might be hassle for you to change insurance provider, but by changing every year you can get cheap premiums.

Agreed. Last year I found the time to check around and saved well over £100. The broker I'd been with for years offered to match the price (although not Quidco's £25 discount), but I was "somewhat miffed" that I'd been effectively overcharged for years, when I thought their role was to find me a good deal.

Pretty much the same principle for train tickets. They don't tell you about splitting the tickets, instead relying on the ignorance of people to pay the inflated prices of the ticket without splitting it.

Especially when part of the journey can be at off peak rates they still try to charge full price for the whole bit.

Osem Jnr has completed his first day working within a local primary school as part of his degree course. He loved it and I think he'll be a natural. Luckily for all concerned, he has all the patience I've never had... :D

That's excellent Osem and you should be very proud of him.

Excellent Osem, both your boy's are a credit to you and Mrs O. So pleased that Osem Jnr really enjoyed his first day :)

Printers know when something's urgent and always choose that time to play up!

Too true. :)

Sadly we have a Kodak 'Hero' (a misnomer if ever there was one) 9.1 which appears to have decided to follow its maker into oblivion. Fortunately for Jnr., we also have Brother, Samsung, Dell, HP and Lexmark alternatives. :)

Excellent news den.

My happy thought is the course I was on finished today. I actually enjoyed it so much at the end that I will be asking to be referred back in January.

I am thanks den, getting to know what foods I can eat and what foods I can't (sadly the foods I love seem to be the :nono:) I do miss oranges the most.

Know what you mean weenie, I think this is why all my attempts to diet fail because I just don't have the willpower to stop eating my favourite foods.

You know when something is bad for you as all the food that we seem to like either put on weight or make us ill. Why is that?

.... because they are probably adictive. I had to give up most of the carbohydrates in my diet and you wouldn't believe the withdrawal symptoms I went through. Still I feel so much better now and have one of my medical conditions under tight control so it was worth the 4 days of hell. Plus, loosing a shed load of weight was an added bonus considering that I now eat more calories than I have ever done in the past.

She's getting there she has to rest for 6 weeks so Christmas day & Boxing day will be round my sisters.

I had a cuppa ready a a piece of cod she wanted ready to cook which she loved.

I hope you problems get sorted sooner rather than later.

Mud is playing at the moment it will be lonely this Christmas and I'm singing along to it which seems to be annoying the boys ALOT :D

We started to put our decorations up on Monday as I want them all sorted before John has to go into hospital. I don't want him coming home on Christmas Eve to anything other than a cheery house.

As he probably won't feel up to celebrating we are planning on having a full Christmas this weekend with the family so that he won't miss out on all the cracker pulling and watching our Grandson open his presents from us. We are really looking forward to seeing the little one's smile when he comes through the door and sees all the greenery, lights and shiny baubles. :)

Thank you weenie.

Not looking forward to the next few weeks but have to look forward positively or else I shall not be able to cope. Preparing for Christmas has been a great way of taking our minds off what we have to face and it's impossible to feel down in the dumps when you are getting big wet soppy kisses from a darling 23mth grandson.

Well you can jolly well have it back! Not only have you pushed your grey skies up to Mancland you have nicked our sun. :D

My happy, going out for a meal this lunch time with family as they pass through Manchester on their way back down to London. Love catching up face to face and my husband is like a big kid wanting to get to the restaurant as early as possible so as not to miss a moment of their company.
