Also the cache server address does start 62.252 - If he's taking the pee, it's a good long one. We just need someone else from Luton to confirm !

Dazzuko, maybe you should post a screen shot of your modem config as well and then people maybe a little more convinced.

just to confirm the NTL 10mb is rolling out in east London a friend has just been upgraded to 10MB

Is NTL doing area's ? I thought they would release country wide like they did on the 1.5 and 3mb upgrades..

i hope so when i was last on 1mb i just unplugged the modem and 3mb when rebooted but the funny thing is they never sent me a letter or email it had been out for a bit only when i phone the lady on the phone she said to do that lol hope its the same where you just unplugged modem reboot sorted

I never look at my NTL email account so it would never reach me there, and a mail out to all customers, or a targeted one would be pretty expensive, 20+p to mail it, plus the cost to print eac batch etc. Do you want to add that to the cost of your BB bill?

Well I can confirm now that I have been testing the new speeds for the past week, giving feedback on speeds, and any other issues, and have constantly been downloading at 8mb speeds, email copied below, link to the speed result page, and my feedback page removed:

There are a variety of factors that can affect the result, but these sites are useful as a tool to see what happens on your broadband service

I can post speed test results if needed, and yes I'm in the Herts area, which comes under Luton. I've been very happy so far, I just hope they dont take it away now the trial has ended :Yikes:

512k upload sounds pretty good although 1mb would of been better I'm not one to complain. Any increase is welcomed.

In terms of download rate, it will be interesting to see what averages people will get. If, at the moment, we are only seeing 8mb how on earth can NTL advertise the product as 10mb. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing NTL or complaining.

I guess we need to see more results before jumping on the NTL bashing wagon :D

Just to point out this is trials not the commercial rollout!

Have to point this out before too many people complain about a product that isn't even released yet.

No but maintaining high speeds gives more congestion. Think of the pipe from your house to the network as a lane on a motorway. Now NTL have just changed the speed limit sticker, so now instead of doing 30 mph you can do 100mph. Now a congested road with everyone doing 30 results in everyone moving along steadily at 30 and getting there in the end. If you try to drive at 100mph on the motorway (before you get nicked) you will find you regularly have to slow to 60-70 when slower moving traffic (or in a network scenareo - traffic) is in front of you. Hence up to 10Mb. You should find at 3am when no-one else is on the road / network you can easily keep to 100mph / 10Mb, but at 6pm when everyone is going home there is no chance, even though the speed limit says it is OK to do so.
