---------- Post added at 23:35 ---------- Previous post was at 23:10 ---------- Me again... sorry, "interesting reading" maybe stretching the use of that term a little. But it does answer some of the questions about what VM have said over the past few months regarding hd. And Andrew... Is a broken promise morally better than telling a lie? It still results in the same thing. Something being said which doesn't turn out to be true. ... Why am I letting myself get sucked into this debate? |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
Time to write some death threat letters to the Virgin CEO :P
might stop him lying. |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
As someone who has been looking forward to getting any sort of decent HD content I've come to the simple conclusion not to believe a word VM says concerning HD.
My contract runs out at the end of September so I've decided that if there is still no HD I'll cancel my TV with VM and go to Sky, reluctantly. http://www.broadbandtvnews.com/?p=11944 Just for fun read paragraph two, the part where Berkett says "VM could catch up quickly concerning HD 3 to 6 months" Well Neil that gives you a tad under three weeks to fulfill that statement...lets see how you do. |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
KenK and Frogstamper see the truth.... pity VM can't talk it...
3 months 6 months, summer, autumn... lol... the BS goes on and on.... U know what, even if they appear tomorrow it wouldn't stop the company from looking shabby and inept afa HD is concerned.... ---------- Post added at 09:12 ---------- Previous post was at 09:06 ---------- PMSL - just read that Digital spy link... last bit reads "It is understood that additional talks are underway with a view to adding more linear HD services later this year and into 2010." So bugger Autumn... it's now 2010 This just gets better and better LOL |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
If anybody's primary concern is HD, then go to sky. Simples. Virgin can take as long as they want with HD given the proportion of their customer base demanding it.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
Blah blah blah... not everyone can get Sky, i can't. That argument is rizzable.
Indeed it misses the biggeer picture. It's not just about the lack of HD it's the farsical way VM have gone about it... |

Wait a minute, so I'm not allowed to say that, but anybody else who says it in this thread (which is nearly everybody) is fine? Just because I'm confident VM will deliver more HD channels this year, does not mean I believe what they say, or expect we'll get them when they say we will. Autumn is a time frame set by the guys on the VM twitter, nothing official. People in here seem to be too hung up on HD. I want more HD channels, but if it was my biggest concern I'd be with Sky right now. Even if I did require more HD channels to keep me happy, Sky wouldn't be much better. A lot of the HD channels they have are rubbish and I'd never use anyway. |

Seems a shame that VM just don't want to compete. Skys TV service is years ahead of VMs in my opinion. On demand is all well and good but not when there are missing episodes/seasons etc etc. Technically, VM *should* be wiping the floor with Skys satellite service. As I've said before, I and I'm sure many others stick with VM because of price. I'd only want Skys TV service as VM provide a very good broadband and phone service in my opinion. |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
The only thing VM are behind on is HD, and that will be sorted. For me, VM provide a much better service.

Living primed for HD roll-out
Virgin Media will roll out an HD version of Living this year as part of a cross-platform strategy to boost the channel’s brand. http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/b...002417.article Info from Broadcast. |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
I have been watching various forums for the last 12 months or so, thought it was time i joined and aired my views, VM offer a (in my opinion) a top notch internet service (i have the phone too never had any probs with that) the tv service is pretty good too we have on demand and catch up so there is always somthing to watch....... however if we start comparing the tv service to sky then I realise how much better skys offerings are, hd wise, but you have to pay for it. I have been with telewest/virgin for moons and have been waiting paitently for HD (Coming soon "sigh") I moved house in feb and i decided i was going to the dark side however after virgins latest promise on hd at the time I decided to stay with them and got my self a really good deal but a new 12 month contract...
I will be honest I have lost all faith in vm to deliver the hd channels and with it looking like setanta going under, and the price it will cost me to add sky sports to my existing package. Im gonna take the plunge and go for sky, there isn't that much in price difference and I'll get plenty of hd (including sports) Now my next debate is gonna be fun Im going to ask/demand virgin release me from my current contract on the grounds I was mis sold it, I was promised more hd channels would arrive by the end of march. Hence the reason i stayed on. ( I bet that phone call won;t be recorded though) Let the fun begin... p.s. good luck you virgin fans I hope they do get there hd channels for you don't hold your breath though. |Virgins main bread winner and sales arm is broadband the tv service is a weak second, (go to the states and check out there cable tv services (comcast) its all we ever dreamed and more ) |

And if the VM owned channels are in such great shape, why were they wanting to sell them off? They neglected to put a time frame on the start of Living HD, probably a good idea as it takes VM an eternity to do anything regarding hd channels. |

I'm amazed how many people watch all these nature programmes all the time and hence have the need for HD, whereas no one watches BBC1,2, ITV and 5 due to the lack of HD |
