Yes 3 days , Mrs K will be delighted. She's being very unreasonable about the 10pm to 6am test match times. Claims its keeping her awake . Strange, as cricket usually sends her to sleep...:D

Shouldn’t affect the Lancs players, as they don’t have any… ;)

And the Hundred aficionados say test cricket is boring, sad people. What a game at Headingley.

Test cricket is the best format of the game by far, even when you lose. Let's hope India now has some coverts to it .

Now for the '100' sleep fest

It has been a cracking series, just a pity it was squeezed in length to fit the awful Hundred in. Bowlers on both sides suffered due to short turn around and Stokes may not have burnt out with longer rest between games. They are going to change the name of the Manchester Originals to the Manchester Super Giants to reflect (appease) the new franchise owners. Also rumoured they hope to change it to a T20 competition. Lancashire like all the counties will be playing in the 50 over cup shortly. They will lose 15 1st choice players to the damned Hundred.

Whats wrong with "The Hundred" ?
I generally find it (and T20) to be more exciting.
Test cricket is mostly really dull (with exceptions of course).

Not everything in life has to be instant gratification.

‘Real’ cricket aficionados appreciate and understand the subtle nuances of 4/5 day cricket. The toss and the decision to bat or bowl. The condition of the wicket that can and usually does alter over a few days. The ability of a batsman to build a long innings and not have to throw the bat as soon as he comes in. The skills of the bowlers who are not restricted to 4 or 5 overs so have time to work out plans for each batsman. The weather conditions that can also change to affect the outcome. If you want a McDonalds type of cricket then the Hundred is for you. If you prefer fine dining, some classy wine and an espresso with a mature cognac then only test cricket will suffice. ;)

Indeed it has been a superb test series crammed into the summer schedule by the ECB and SKY because they are obsessed with big bucks.

Tried again with the 100. Its just tedious meaningless crap. Teams with no identity, no proper scores, Bairstow playing for 'Welsh fire'.. No Test matches again this summer to accommodate it. Its mainly for footy fans who have better things to do now the seasons started. .

My son's bought tickets for Headingley next week, I'll desperately try and be grateful ;)

The Ashes is always a tough tour, particularly if you're in the UK and want to watch it. The players have it easy.

1st Test - 2:30 to 9:30 am. Just about doable if you can get a early night, although the temptation for lightweights is to join after lunch at 5:10am

2nd Test (day/night) 4:30am to 11:30am - should be a doddle if the alarm clock works
Her indoors might not be happy about the early start though.

3rd Test 12am to 7am - incredibly difficult. Do you sleep before or during the intervals or in the morning? Or a bit of each?

4th Test ( Boxing Day) 11:30pm to 6:30 am. This is the killer. Still fuelled from Xmas day the first session should be ok, but after that a lot of black coffee is needed.

5th Test (New Year ) 11:30 to 6:30am On the face of it, a killer again, but if you survived the previous Tests your body will be on Aussie time by now...

Hopefully England will lose these Tests in 2/3 days as usual, which will make things a lot easier :)
