Don't know why people bother with foreign leagues. There's plenty of football in this country. A very good value day out can be had going to watch your local non-league team with your own eyes in ultra ultra HD/3D...

I don't follow other leagues its just that I have a family connection in Valladolid, so La Liga is of interest to me.
No doubt there are many Spanish and Italian's that live in this Country who would like to see their home teams play.

I don't get dressed at the weekend and i don't drive so that isn't an option for me. Foreign leagues are great as someone who didn't have sky or cable when i was growing up i loved italian football in 1994 when everyone else was watching the premier league. I instead fell in love with italian football.

The fact that its now taken off normal tv and i have to pay 5.99 a month to watch it streaming with no real apps. What? Absolutely awful.

The best foreign players are mostly in the Premier League anyway ;)

Just think people forget that there is great football not on TV, probably very local to them. Non league is best for passion/entertainment plus you can walk around the ground with a drink from the bar if you want ;) Try that in the Premiership !

I was in Gran Canaria earlier this year and went to see Las Palmas play, great fun, but seeing the same on TV just isn't nearly the same.

Have you anything selected in the video settings on the V6 other than 2160? I find the difference very noticable.

So the settings should be 2160?

Thx

ozsat 19-08-2018 11:54

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

Yep - a feature (I would say fault) of the V6 is that to get 2160 from BT Sports 4K - you have to only select 2160 in the output options. Ignore the passthru settings as they are not for regular tv channels.

If you select any others (1080, 720) than the V6 downscales to that setting - even if 2160 is also selected.

I have to say that the 2160 setting doesn't make much different on my Panasonic 4k tv either. It looks the same as the 1080i did. 4k movies and iplayer 4k content looks incredible though.

Could it be that modern smart TV's up scale to the pannels native 4K resolution and that is why people are not noticing a big difference?

No idea. But there is a big difference between an upscaled 1080p. mkv file and upscaled BBC News 24.

Update , On Sky Q it's using your internet now for the red button , wow what a crap picture I honestly couldn't watch a game like that.......really poor.

Hoping to watch the Celtic game at 6 on Premier Sports 1.

However when i put the channel on it said the channel is unavailable. Now i have a frozen screen like a few weeks ago. It is the same on both my V6 boxes.

Premier 2 and Freesports are fine.

Hope its sorted by KO. One of several blips for this channel so far in the free period.

Do they have the rights to show the game in the UK (ie. outside of Eire)?

Exactly the same thing happened when I was trying to watch GAA the other week no doubt because Sky Sports have exclusive rights to broadcast it in the UK.

Yes they do

Mine is also frozen at end of a re-run of AC Milan v Man Utd ICC Cup.

Only affecting PS1HD - unfortunately no SD equivalent so can't see if it affects this

It is being re-run on Freesports tomorrow at 19:30 if that helps and PS1HD tomorrow at 21:00

Not enough live content at that present time to put on three different channels so they pad out the same live content on several channels.

Yes l find that quite astonishing really as all they had was one keep all their main staff down there for another day and two make sure they told the supporters that turned up for the rained off match that their tickets were totally applicable for the following day.

HD charge for sports used to be £10 + vat charge will now be £2 + vat so those that were on HD will get a reduction.

Question is, will this reduction apply to virgin customers with sky sports?

So if you buy a Premier Sports subscription through Sky TV, for a tenner - you also get access to their internet player and 7 days worth of Sports video on demand.

If you buy the same tv subscription through VirginMedia, for a tenner, you don't.

You need to check your facts!!

Sky will never confirm anything about Premier Sports as the channel is nothing to do with them.

The only thing true about your statement is that Sky have not confirmed there are no plans. But then they have not confirmed there are plans.

Premier Sports said that 2HD would launch and also Freesport HD - but have gone back and removed all those references from their website.

You need to check your facts!!

You can not by a Premier Sport subscription through Sky TV.

You can go direct to Premier Sports and ask them to enable the channel on one of your Sky boxes only. You have to pay additional charges for addiional boxes.

£9.99 is the cost for new subscribers - regular cost is £11.99 for access on a Sky box.

It is nothing to do with Sky - it is Premier Sport that give you the streaming access if you subscribe direct with them.

You do NOT get streaming access going to Sky TV for Premier Sports.

If you buy the same tv subscription through VirginMedia, for a tenner, you don't.

Utter crap again.

Yes. We are talking about new subscribers. People who want to put Premier Sports on their televisions.

https://twitter.com/PremierSportsTV/...03473973010432

https://subscribe.premiersports.tv/

The facts are:

1)If you are a sky customer you can pay £9.99 to get premier sports on your television. You also then get a code to put in the premier sports web player which enables you to view their content online and also get their video on demand 7 day catch up service. Premier Sport has also stated this week that sky customers will be getting Premier Sport 2 channel in HD soon.

So you get 2 HD channels and their web player with catch up 7 day sport

2) If you are a Virgin Media customer, you can pay £9.99 to get premier sports on your television. No other web player code / package comes with this. Virgin have today said that there are no updates available as to whether Premier sport 2 is coming to virgin in HD.

So all you get is 1 channel in HD and 1 channel in SD.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

VM subscribers to PS have paid £0.00 for the past two months - New subscribers on Sky platform have paid £19.98. Regular customers on Sky platform have paid £23.98.

PS2 HD has NOT launched on Sky so you can not include that. It may also launch on VM so you can not compare. I'm not holding my breath for either of them to get it soon.

PS said both platforms would get all three channels in HD for the start of Pro14. So they have already shown their accuracy with information.

You need to post the facts as of today - not the possible facts in the future!

BT has secured UKTV on-demand content in HD and retains UKTV channels

BT has secured ongoing access to UKTV channels, plus extra on-demand content in HD.

UKTV, the biggest multichannel broadcaster in Britain, has been a BT TV partner since launch and this new deal means BT TV customers will continue to get some of the UK’s best loved comedy on Gold, brand new and exclusive entertainment on Dave, as well as premium programming on W, Alibi, Good Food and Eden.

Customers will also soon be able to receive a bigger selection of shows on-demand with customers able to watch these in high definition (HD) via their BT TV set-top boxes for the first time. A selection of shows will also be available to download and play on the new BT TV app that now gives customers the ability to download and access content on the go as well as access to a range of TV platforms.

Out of interest are you getting charged for this now?

As of today Premier Sports no longer free without a sub but it is still showing on the Virgin Media website as free on the upgrade page.

I added the 'free' premier sports on 20th August, no mention of time limitation on either Virgin website or in the confirmation email.

This week, to my disgust, I received an email telling me my 2 month free period ended on 24th September.

I called virgin to get it removed immediately registering my complaint about the mis-selling. I was told it would be removed immediately without any need to give 30 days notice (another detail sadly missing) and no charge.

Total disgrace, no different to the general free 2 months everyone got so why offer it at all?

The Motorsport channel is to close its linear channel and move over to a streaming service. It will be interesting to see if VM decides to offer this service to its subscribers.

Haha I agree with den. Maybe then the v6 launched and the tons of apps we’d get.

Then the room went deadly quiet and we all looked at our feet sadly

The big question, of course, is how will this change of ownership affect us? Hopefully, we will see an improvement in quality, but alas, I feel I may be disappointed.

Brian Roberts (Comcast CEO) said in the FT Jeremy Darroch and the Sky team have been told they will be able to act as an independent company but with the resources of a $150bn company behind them.

Under the terms of the deal, Eleven has secured the rights to 42 live UFC events in 2019, as well as 150 hours of UFC original and archive programming.

Surprised Elevens Sport haven't come up with a deal with Sky to be on their EPG yet. I wonder how many people are bothering to tune in/sub to their internet site?

For the Spanish and Dutch football yes. It's alright if you want to take your pick of the multiple games they show but there isn't really a catch up facility other than highlights. Just glorified streaming with commentary for 50 quid basically.

There's no app yet so you're stuck with Chromecast or Roku.

So you can stream any Spanish or Dutch football match live, basically. Although you don't have full catch up services on there, is that really so bad for about 4 quid a month (if you take out an annual subscription)? What do you think Sky would charge if they were offering this service?

The only drawback I can see is that the channel is not available by way of Sky or Virgin. However, that may be rectified before long, one presumes.

Not quite. There's usually a selection of matches to watch at any one given time (3-4). They'll often stream at least one match for free on their Facebook page such as the Ajax game last weekend. Bit of a pain really as the game they show on Facebook often isn't advertised on their website schedule.

I don't think Sky or Virgin will be in any hurry to add this channel to their sports portfolio to be honest. The best I can see is a Elevens Sport app.
