Just completed the inaugural Swansea Half Marathon, slightly disappointed with my finishing time as I know I can do better but the heat was awful, I hadn't factored that in to it. Still I managed a 10k PB along the way and have just signed up for the Cardiff Half Marathon in a few months get a new PB.

Aiming to get down for lunchtime opening.

Gonna need a rest. August is looking very busy. Why can't clients want their work when it's winter?

Still just invoiced for £4K + VAT and another one lined up for £3.5K.

LOL I wonder how many children get busy tidying their rooms when Mum is due back.

I got my hair done today and I love the new colour reddish/brown so that is my happy thought but I bet my hubby and the boy's don't notice.

@ weenie. I have not had much time to post these last few days so playing catch-up. Good to hear your son enjoyed his camp. Hopefully he will have good weather for the rest of this break between Primary and Senior school. Such a memorable transition period between being a child and a young man.

@Tinky. Enjoy your belated birthday meal. I love belated presents, it spreads my celebrations over a longer period.

@ Osem glad to hear you will soon have all your family around you. I am sure that any 'wrath of mum'. will be very short lived. :)

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

I'd been worried that my diabetes had got a bit out of control, and typical male buried my head in the sand. However, GP sent me for blood test last week as nearly a year since had them done, and even though my HBa1c is still high (90 or 10.2), this is down from last year by 20. Last result was 110 or 12.2 so even though it is still over the normal it is at least making progress in the right way.

GP is one of those encouraging ones, he is happy with small improvements as long as they are improvements which this is. I'm quite pleased with this, as it also allays any fears about diabetes causing trouble. Now, question is do I celebrate this result without screwing up the good work?

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

I have had a very stressful few weeks.

My mum has been losing weight (not through choice), she thought it might be her stomach ulcer coming back.

So she had a ultrasonic scan, and the Dr said he could see a mass on her pancreas, and of course I was thinking the worse "Steve Jobs came to my mind and if his cash could help him, what change do we have".

She then had a camera down the throat at a private hospital through the NHS, yesterday the guy who done the procedure told her the outcome of it.

While there she mentioned the "Mass" he said it more like a small swelling and its nothing to worry about.

So as you can imagine a huge weight has been lifted, and we can know look forward to our upcoming holiday.

I guess the word "Mass" is a technical term for swelling.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Just heard that our neighbours insurance is sending out a loss adjuster to do a site visit. I do not know if this is good thing or not as our insurance never sent out a loss adjuster to us, our insurance just requested that we get a tree report done on neighbours trees and forward it along with the boundary survey that states that one of their trees is mainly growing on our land and others straddle over the boundary. The report was forwarded to their insurance stating that the trees need to be removed for the safety both buildings now and in the future. I wonder if this is why the neighbours insurance is sending out a loss adjuster for a site visit. I hope this gets sorted soon as neighbours loss adjuster now has both the tree report and boundary survey for when they do their site visit. The tree report stated many other factors as it was 7 pages long. Fingers crossed we hear a reply soon, just so happy that now both insurances are involved just don't understand loss adjuster site visit when our insurance never sent one.

It can only be a positive thing dilli either way they agree with the reports or say I have nothing to worry about by getting prove to state otherwise and if they do the latter and something did happen as a result of there report then they will be liable I would assume.

Sounds positive to me.

Loss Adjusting
Loss adjusters are experts in many fields. In addition to a thorough knowledge of insurance and of the area in which they work, they can advise both the insurance company and the policyholder on repair and replacement techniques. After discussions with the policyholder, the loss adjuster's report to the insurance company enables the company to process the claim without delay. Each loss adjuster may work for many insurance companies. These companies know they can rely on the skill, fairness and just approach of the loss adjuster.

The Insurer's loss adjuster will visit the policyholder, within days after submission of the claim form, to discuss the circumstances of the claim. The loss adjuster will check:

That the loss or damage falls within the terms of the insurance policy
That the sums insured on the policy are adequate
That the amounts being claimed are fair and reasonable
That all valid items of claim have been included and nothing omitted

So glad it's the weekend, some serious chilling out is called for maybe with the help of bottle of nice Blossom Hill white wine along with Chinese or Indian takeaway tonight. Decided I am going to do nothing at all this weekend apart from CHILL OUT :)

Back in the land of 1/2 decent broadband compared to the data / communications desert of West Penwith (Cornwall). On the 3G dongle at the moment which manages a reasonable speed but when I've paid VM's bill I'll get the full-fat BB back on line. :)

Yes thankyou Weenie. Only had rain on one day and the first week was really hot. Only downside was the pub's wifi is out after a lightning strike and they haven't had it fixed and my 3Gdongle was playing up so I was effectively off-line for the duration.

Curiously refreshing. :D

Yes thanks Den. We even managed a trip over to Falmouth and of course picked up a few bargains in Trago Mills. :)

Bought two packs of four bottles of Strawberry & Lime Kopporberg for £8.00 earlier as they were on special offer :) . I don't drink all that often, and I know my limits, but I thought this was too good to pass up :)

My neighbour 3 doors down had a little girl last week and she is beautiful, you forget just how tiny a new born baby is.

The occupational therapist has just been and gone through what I need to make the bungalow suitable for me needs. As much as I hate the idea of using my wheelchair more she did make some good points and suggestions so I guess i'd better suck it up and all that.

Best get any work done now and never need to use it rather than need it but have to face a long delay getting the work done. Funding problems can be a bitch to get around. <hugs>

Reported a fault on my BT landline ( No dial tone ) to BT website. Got a quick series of e-mails on testing updates. Fault fixed within the hour and a call from the exchange engineer to verify fault corrected.

Full marks to BT. :)

I have had a wonderful day today with Drew. We went out for dinner to Frankie & Benny's (Drew's choice) I must admit I will miss him tomorrow when he starts the High school.

Even if I do say myself Drew looked very smart today starting his 1st day at the High school. I can't wait for him to come home and tell me and his Dad all about it :)

Following on from my eyes yesterday, before I even had a chance to park my bum in a chair he was saying the optician should not have sent me to him, he cannot see any reason for him to be involved. He said wait for my routine retinopathy screening in October as it could be the start of that or cataracts. Hopefully neither.

Well that's the 1st day of High School over for Drew, he loved it but he was a bit shocked when he saw some pupils smoking I have told him to stay away from that area. " When I was at school I would have been one of those pupils at the smokers corner" but will not be telling Drew that ;)

Because I was the first birthday of the school year, once I turned 16 I was asked to buy the cigarettes for others in my year. I always got the money before I went though.

Several business invoices are in and paid. Toy budget is released. ( At last!):)

I'm looking at a new Sony Bravia* TV for the front room to replace the Philips Matchline 100Hz 28" that has done sterling service and will go up in the master bedroom. Need a decent new lappy too.

I'm letting the OH choose things starting with "i" It's a long list. LOL

*Picture on KDL42W706BSU gets 5 stars across the board plus connectivity looks good. Richer sounds seem to have the best deal. We'll have to evaluate the sound to see if a bar is needed or if the existing Hi Fi can be roped in. Seen the set in real life and it looks seriously good.
