So if I'm reading that correctly the BBC now wants to charge VM and Sky to carry it's content , don't we already pay for its content via the TV tax , if VM and Sky have to pay to carry this content surely the cost will be passed on to subscribers meaning were paying again for the BBC content , Sky charging the BBC is another argument but VM carry the channels for free and in my opinion shouldn't have to pay the BBC to carry its content.

But Virgin Media have the argument that they do not charge customers to receive the channels and if the PSBs were to remove the channels then they would not be committing to their PSB agreements of equal and fair access.

However Ad-Hoc services like Catch Up (not BBC iPlayer though) should be charged to Virgin Media as these are additional services which boost the platform.

Also its the Television License not TV Tax.

Ad-Hoc services as a TV license payer you can receive on a multitude of devices subscription free.

again, read, NOT BBC IPLAYER. You DO NOT pay for ITV Player, 4OD or Demand 5 as part of your license fee.

But personally ocav we are already paying enough in the Licence fee for this to be included and the greedy blighters want to suck even more money out of us when we are already paying enough for content as it is already.

Blame BT sport for part of that.

This thread is not about the TV Licence, or "Bedroom taxes".

A bunch of off topic posts removed, back to the subject please.

Anyway a rumour has surfaced but take it with a pinch of salt , itv are rumoured to be launching a movie channel at some point in 2014.

True, we are going rather off topic. I've not heard anything about ITV launching a movie channel. If it does come to fruition, I wonder if it will be a FTA channel or put behind a paywall??

ITV have stated that they are looking at other income streams (like making most of their HD channels subscription only) because advertising revenue has declined. However, I doubt it will be a rival to the premium movie channels on offer, so maybe it will be FTA if it shows ITV1/ITV3 type films.

It'll be interesting to see what happens regarding itv over the next 12 months or so.
Channels set to launch on vm early 2014 (again rumours until they show up on EPG)
HistoryHD
NatgeowildHD
LifetimeHD
SkysportsnewsHD
SkynewsHD
bbc1+1 (yes this is happening)
News18
od service lovefilm
DisneyHD
DisneyxdHD
Channel4+HD
5later
Sky poker

plus i think vm will expand their on demand library greatly
expect the cbs channels to get the AMC branding too in some form.
I'm not even mentioning a certain Sky channel in my list.

That'd be a nice little collection of channels. i still would like a few of the random channels sky has which we don't. i harp on about fox news but it still amuses me every time i watch it. some of the european channels on sky would be nice too.

That's now the second time in as many months I've heard a suggestion that ITV will launch a dedicated movie channel. 2 seperate sources too.

I can see it being on par with Film4. I suspect it'll be the films you usually see on ITV1 to ITV4 stuck together on one channel.

The more free dedicated movie channels on TV the better.

Virgin Media moves more channels to lower packages for Christmas.

TV 5 is now broadcasting on the M, M+ and L packages on Virgin Channel 825 until January 3rd 2014.

DS Forum is reporting that BT Sport 1 is broadcasting on the M+ and L packages on Virgin Channel 547 until date still to be confirmed.

MB, how many channels are on your last page after selecting 'all channels' on the V+ EPG? The total is two on mine, I'm interested to see if they differ.

Christmas Eve, Christmas day and Boxing Day programmes have now been populated on the V+ EPG, so my evening will be spent perusing these days to see what's worth recording whilst away. Hopefully this will give me something to watch one quiet, cold and miserable January night :D

Two.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 6.

Skymovie channels were due to be free to all on m+ and above packages from today for two weeks , sources have told me that Sky pulled out for some reason or another.
I would of thought that Sky would of gone ahead and basically said "look at what you're missing."
I think my source was telling porkies and Skymovies was never going to be free and now my source is trying to cover their tracks.
To confirm this is one of the sources i got rid of a few weeks ago anyway.
