Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

My little Nephew's reaction to Morph (the 70s kids TV show).

My little Nephew loves shows such as Waybuloo, In The Night Garden and Sarah & Duck. Yet, yesterday, he was sitting at home watch Waybuloo on Cbeebees, and I was reading online about Aardman Animations' Kickstarter campaign to bring it back being successful enough to make three more episodes than they planned.

Feeling a little nostalgic, I looked up the trailer for the new series. All of a sudden, my nephew lost interest in Waybuloo and looked at my monitor with an amazing look of wonder on his face. So, I looked up Morph on youtube. Found a few old episodes. He loved them. Bought back some happy memories for me too.

Personally, I think that Morph (along with a lot of kids TV shows) had a sort of magic that is a little bit lacking in modern shows. Yes, modern shows have state of the art animation that can be very realistic, but I think a lot of old animation techniques have a charm that CGI doesn't. Not that Morph had bad animation. On the contrary, Aardman were excellent at stop motion animation even then.

I had exactly the same reaction to Morph from my 18mth old Grandson this Wednesday. There was a short report on the TV about the new Morph videos due to to be released on YouTube and young Jack sat entranced. Later in the day I found a couple of the old videos on YouTube and again he sat mesmerised by this animated lump of clay. Though he was upset when Morph broke into little pieces. ( the ice cream episode) :D

I have just received a DVD, Morph: The Morph Files which I ordered on Wednesday as part of the 4 for £10 offer from Amazon and look forward to a morning of reminiscences watch that DVD and the 3 others Bagpuss, The Clangers and Frankenstein's Cat. Happy days.

Morph. Was he the plasticine one who was on the art programme with Tony Hart (think I have the right person)? If so, I loved that myself and watched every episode. I don't think they make children's TV like they used to. I still find myself enjoying watching Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry.

I refill my Epson 680 ones with kits from Trago Mills (Jet tech) for £3.95 (Colour) and a chip resetter.

The price of pukka Epson carts is truely criminal.

yes there are. The tip is to go for printers that supply reservoirs without the print head attached like epson and canon if they have the head attached ie lexmark and HP then you have to pay them for the privilege even if re manufactured

for example 2 full sets( 12 carts) for my printer for less than a tenner

http://www.amazon.co.uk/CiberDirect-Compatible-Cartridges-PX720WD-Printers/dp/B004B64WEO

the last ones I bought were 4 sets for 15 quid iirc and this was a couple of years ago and I am just on my last set now

Mine is Epson SX425. I once bought some from Amazon & the Ink was not very good. It was £33 95 for M MULTIPACK But I had empty cartridges to hand back so I got a £3 discount

After putting off clearing out kitchen cupboards and generally having a good clear out, I took the bull by the horns and did just that, even the cupboard under the sink "the junk one where I would be embarrassed to leave the door open" I hope everyone has a junk one or is it just me that stuffs everything and anything in a certain cupboard/drawer  anyway job done and I feel a sense of achievement. I will admit I was shocked at just how much out of date medicine we had. So that is my happy thought finally stopped talking about cleaning out the kitchen cupboards and done it :)

Things are finally moving forward with the insurance. Now whether it goes our way is another matter, it is now between our home insurance and the neighbours insurance "if they take the case on or not, if their insurance does not take neighbour on well that really is another story" Keeping everything crossed that it is over soon" and goes in our favour. The main reason I am happy is they have now contacted there insurance.

Some good news. Our department is in the process of being restructured, and a couple of weeks ago, I was called into the bosses office. He explained that my job was being downgraded, and he was telling me early so I could fight the decision. Fight, I did, with the help of my Line manager, and I think, to some extent, Unison (my union). The same boss who had told me a couple of weeks ago told me in a department meeting on Wednesday that I'd won my fight. His application to regrade my job had been successful, along with his application for an increase in staffing budget to enable him to employ more technical staff.

Why am I happy, bearing in mind that after a lot of fighting I am essentially back to square one? Simple. Things could have been a lot worse. I now know that my career and financial circumstances will not change for the foreseeable future. That's knowledge I've not had for a year now. Of course, I don't have a cast-iron guarantee that my job will stay forever, but who does?

There's also the salary drop. When I took this job, I was on a much lower salary than what it would have dropped to, but my circumstances were different then. I was quite comfortably off then, but I cannot afford to lose that much money now. I know that my salary would have been protected, but I'd still have had to look for another job. Something which I don't want to do, as I enjoy this job.

Good luck with it

Hospital again tomorrow - a day out!

I have a bet going with the missus as to if they manage to pick me up from the new place ;)

Yes I wrote - phoned - went to the transport desk to give them my new address last week but I don't trust these people ;)

Maybe they will surprise you dilli. It's about time they got their act together.

Good luck at the hospital and fingers crossed you get there on time. :)

Nope they went to the old address - so no hospital for me today. All rebooked for tomorrow.

Apparently the driver didn't actually look at the address on his work sheet (which is correct) - just assumed I was still living there.

Lovely sunny day, lager chilling in the fridge for this afternoon (being naughty but who cares when it is a nice day) and golf on. No noise around atm, can the day get any better? Well, yes only one thing could make it even better: Poulter being in the lead tonight.

And finally got some sleep last night, had been up for 38 hours before I finally crashed last night at half 10. Neighbour kept me up the night before with a party. Inconsiderate lot.

Naughty boy. Saying that, a locum my GP practice have taken on almost made me cancel my appointment on Monday and take a sit and wait one for her. Almost. Might have to see when she next has a clinic on and book an appointment for then...

25C outside at the moment. Hotter in the house. Time for the air-con to go on in the bedroom. Nothing like a nice cool room for a good nights sleep. :)

Aircon's pulled the bedroom down to 18 and falling. The contrast is quite amazing to the rest of the house that's around 25. :)

Amusingly, when we were in North Cyprus last week (the average temperature was around 30 degrees at night), we had the air-con at 25 to cool the room down to be able to sleep. :D
