Is that how Man Utd did it through the years?

I thought it was titles and trophies earned through results.

Yes. That's exactly how it works.

So if Man Utd do worse, does that mean you haven't earned your money?

Broadly speaking, a team gets its money from winning things which can then be invested in the team. Unless the name of the team rhymes with Garsemal.

Thanks.....you've just backed up my point. The debt IS serviceable otherwise United would have gone under by now. The reason they're still going is because, as you say, United's brand is a cash cow.

The only way you can ever have a truely even playing field, is if you have every team only allowed to spend the same set amount of money

I suspect that if that happens, the premiership will become dull

Wrong on both counts.

Firstly I'm not complaining because we haven't a sugar daddy, Arsenal have 2. We could very easily get Usmanov on the board and have Gazprom bank roll us in sponsorship. I'm not going to now say thats wrong, I don't care about clubs finding ways like sponsorship via ownership connections. Football is heading towards commercial madness and what UEFA have put in place in FFP will only push clubs further that way as it is doing now so to me that fight is pointless but thats exactly it. Stop being lazy and find ways to generate cash. What does need to be implemented is clubs having the ability to survive the next 5-10years, thats tricky. Billionaire owners will not be able to bank roll the club constantly through their own connections. Clubs will have to find other ways like PR, perks, whatever to balance it out. With that then comes responsibility that one has to take running a business. Fans also come in here to make sure the long term is safe, supporter trusts need to be given some form of support from the official. At the moment or what was is just spend silly amounts here there and everywhere with the owners cash, thats irresponsible.

Sponsorships come in on a 5 year contract, that will decrease in the near future just like player contracts of 5 years are slowly dying out. Commercial madness is whats coming which is fine as thats growth overall not growth for a select few even if the top teams gain more monies.. somethings better than nothing.

Your second point of having the same amounts of cash to spend is pointless and indeed dull. What I've posted above is whats to come not this sort of gag.

'Miracles' as you call them happen in any business of that size. I've never been in favour of the Glaziers or how they run the club but if the books have been balanced correctly then no laws have been broken.

If by 'sly dealing' you mean 'legitimate sponsorship' then yes, that's exactly what it is.

It's early doors Den but if Ramirez plays like that week in, week out we certainly won't be staring down the relegation barrel. :)

Saints sign Artur Boruc on a free transfer until the end of the season. Once an impressive keeper for Celtic.
