Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Awful finishing again. Yet I'm sure SAF thinks we don't need more firepower

Some very interesting figures on World Cup manager salaries:

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
So the extend of MotD's coverage of Rooney's dive was the commentator attempting to explain the fall with "Now remember, he's running at full speed." and then sorrowfully admitting he wasn't touched by anyone. There was absolutely zero mention of it in the analysis afterwards.
The hypocrisy is sickening, and it's amazing that people can be so blatant and unashamed in it too. |

It's simple. Rooney/Gerrard = England Golden Boys Drogba/Eduardo/Ngog = Foreign Cheats. Imagine if Scholes was Foreign, he would be in for a lot more criticisms of some of his 'tackles' and he even hand balled before a goal for England. No one cared, when Henry on the other hand does it well then he should be banned from the World Cup and will always be remembered as 'the cheat' (he won't of course but there you go). |

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Its quite simple, a referee has to be hard enough to apply the rules of the game, if you dive, RED card, if you pull your shirt off after scoring a goal, a bit of common sense.
Football is a mans game and also a cheating one, and its big, handballs, diving, etc, RED, but again referees are too soft, bring back the days of Clive Thomas, if you broke the rules, he would send you off. He once did a survey of a game, and he said to the tv commentator, that the referee was to soft, and that if you allow the game to go into 'madness' where players were doing the dirty tackles, then the ref has lost it. Regarding the Rooney incident, that was NO penalty, and he should have been sent off for diving, but there again the referee was soft, it was like the stupid red card yesterday of a player got sent off for taking his shirt off, although he has already had a yellow, the referee should have said ' look you are on a yellow, don't be stupid, l could send you off for that, common sense should have come in. |
Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Get in!!! We're right back in the title mix with a game in hand.
Burnley away in midweek will be tough though. Lolerpool. |
Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Excellent!
4 points clear from 5th, 3 points behind United, 6 behind Chelsea with that game in hand. So pleased, was so disappointed at half-time. |
Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Not so happy with the result, but we played better as a team which is a positive to take from the game. We didn't make as much out of the first half having been all over them. But then you go giving them a helping hand - what can you expect.
Oh well, tra laa laa ;) |

Liverpool were unlucky not to get the penalty in the first half. |
Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Fabregas reckons Wenger actually kicked off for once, he'd never seen him get like it before! And Fabregas himself told the Arsenal players at HT that they don't deserve to wear the shirt if they play as bad as they did in the first half.

I'm inclined to agree about the penalty decision, as about a few more. But you can't blame a lost game all on the ref - i hate it when people do that  |
