We need to get out of the mindset that we must have every single channel available, no matter how much dross is pumped out.

Sky Atlantic, AMC and ITV Encore are the only additional channels worth having, IMHO.

Tbh amc is waste of time at the moment mate already it's starting to show repeats of stuff it's already shown.

Two of the best current AMC shows are available via Amazon Prime, who have UK first run rights (Halt and Catch Fire and Turn; both having been renewed for a third season). The pretty much only other one, Rectify (which won't be everyone's cup of tea), is available on Netflix Canada. The rest seem to be re-runs of old shows. VM would probably be wasting their money if they paid BT for the channel.

You're not wrong, Old Boy! I just wish that Virgin would milk the remaining channels from broadcasters VM already have deals with and scoop up the remaining Freeview channels; that should make us all satisfied.

Personally, I don't give a toss as to what channels they are; it's the choice I want more than anything.

I kind of agree with the above, but there are ppl on here who slate Atlantic because it's on Sky and imo they obviously have no idea what a good show or series is, most of them would probably prefer QVC, ( oops sorry the one..:D)

Haha :D you should see the US QVC :p: Atlantic is ok but trust me on AMC at the moment you really aren't missing much same with ITV Encore imo.
I get AMC via BT TV but i rarely watch it, Sky atlantic and itv encore i get via nowtv, sky atlantic is the best of the 3 i think.

That's because your obviously old school and look at the channels daily schedule rather than the content it offers over the course of a year.

Since I picked up a NOW TV box last year I have caught up (via box sets) and watched all the SA content I couldn't watch on VM

4 seven HD & CH4+1 HD were launched as Freeview exclusives, mainly to try & push take up of Freeview HD equipment, which is required kit for receiving the MUX 7 & soon to be launched MUX 8 channels on Freeview.

Well, you say that, Dave, but since getting access to SA stuff via Now TV and my Roku stick, I have been gorging on the programmes from that channel which I have been missing. They include Fortitude, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, True Detective and more besides and I can assure you that these are excellent programmes.

Although we all have different viewing habits, there can be no denying that there are good quality dramas on there.

As for whether or not SA will ever come to VM, I would say that the only way that is now likely to happen is if Now TV appears on the Tivo box. This overcomes the problem Virgin has with the cost of providing the channel and gives its customers the option for them to pay to receive it.

ITV Encore is only showing repeated material for the most part at the moment, although a new series of The Americans is currently airing.

Next year, we should see original dramas introduced to that channel and I think we should reserve judgement until that time.

When that happens, the exclusivity period with Sky should be ending.
