It will start to be advertised from today (at least on Channel 5 anyway). IIRC it will start at Easter sometime.

Their spin says that they will be showing exclusive shows from America and the UK. There will be box office dramas, big budget movies (channel 5 has a lot of these) and adrenaline fuelled sports (Red Bull?? Bellator MMA as it's owned by Viacom and has previously been on Viva??)

Well Channel 5 did launch on Easter Sunday.

There's very little real about them , most are staged just watch Lizard Lick Towing what a pile of junk.

I always wondered what that was but didn't have the curiosity to find out.

Sometimes there's a gem hidden in the dross, for us it was Takeshie's Castle.

If anyone's keen on knowing the latest news about Spike, Viacom has already set up a Facebook account, Twitter Feed and holding web page for Spike UK.
These pages don't have much useful information on them at the moment but I'm sure this will change nearer to the launch date.

It doesn't pay to bundle your services anymore, once it did, keep moving around you get better prices that way.

My latest year coming to an end, cancelled on Saturday the citing the cost when the offer ends, got a phone call Monday after haggling got another 10 months at same price + £50 credit on account + NO CONTRACT can leave anytime.

It gets better, I didn't have to leave and wait for an offer in the letterbox.

Great deal nicko, I think I'll be joining you in the summer as even with the price rise the full Sky package is £40 per month at half price. Just seen that Sky Sports is going up £1 on Sky in June, if VM follow suit it'll take it to £30.25 per month or £37.25 with HD so it's a no brainier to get the lot from Sky for £3 more than I'd be paying VM for just Sky Sports HD.

Wonder how long it'll be before VM join in the half price game as otherwise they are going to begin losing customers to Sky and/or streaming services. Seems their retentions deal these days max out at about £10 discount.

SKY are the kings of retention. Just need to hold your nerve and play the game. It does mean annually you might be left with no SKY TV for a few days but it's not long until they give you a call, sent you a letter or an e-mail giving you 50% off to come back. Play the game right and you could even get between 60% and 75% off! It's a bit hit and miss but what I learned is don't hit them with idle threats of going to another provider. For the past 3 years I've blown smoke up their behind by saying:

"Truth is I don't really want to cancel, I really enjoy your services. Problem is my deal is expiring and I can't afford to go up to full price."

SKY pretty much read between the lines and do the rest from there.

Good work :) Can you advise:
Is it a new on-demand service or a channel?
Would you personally rate its importance to VM as:
- game-changing (eg when Netflix and BT Sport came)
- good (eg History HD)
- insignificant (eg Tru TV)

I can't say too much at the moment but i think some of you will be happy, that's as much as i can say at the moment.
Rating it i'd say between good and game changing.
