England lost their last six wickets for 31 runs as they collapsed to a 75-run defeat in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

Chasing a record 340, England seemed well set as Jonathan Trott (112) and Matt Prior took them to 233-4.

But Prior's dismissal to Rangana Herath (6-97) for 41 sparked the latest collapse of what, for Andrew Strauss's side, has been a miserable winter.
Not the start we wanted in the first test of this new series and again its generally the batsman that are letting us down and if some of them don't start bucking their ideals up then l suspect heads will roll in regards to the other tests in this series and the forthcoming summer tests series which is not that far away.

England took two late wickets to seize the initiative after a Mahela Jayawardene century had rescued Sri Lanka on day one of the second Test.

James Anderson (3-49) took three wickets from his first five overs to leave the home team reeling on 30-3.

Jayawardene (105) and Thilan Samaraweera (54) then fought back with a patient 124-run stand in Colombo.

But Graeme Swann removed the centurion, with Steven Finn dismissing Prasanna Jayawardene to leave the hosts 238-6.
Well lets hope we start as well as we finished on the second day tomorrow.

The thing is we will only know how poor the Sri Lankan score was until England finish their first innings. I'd think Sri Lanka will be happy if they get to 250-260.

My greatest worry at the moment is how many will England's fragile batting order make.

England lose Alastair Cook after making good progress on the third morning of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo and are currently 224-2.
Come on England keep it up the good work and lets see if we can build a good 1st innings lead.

A truly magnificent innings by KP puts England in a strong position on day three.

England take two wickets as they look for a first Test win this winter but Sri Lanka recover to reach 84-2 at lunch on day four of the second Test in Colombo.
Well if we can get a few more wickets this afternoon we will be in a very strong position to win this test and level the series.

England take two more Sri Lanka wickets after lunch as they look to secure a first Test win in five matches and retain their number one ranking.
All to play for in the final session today and we can get a couple early wickets after tea then we are in a very strong position to win this test.
