Where the caps attached? They drive me crazy as I like to drink out of the bottle large or small, could easily cut my lip.

Won't get away with that at my house the video door bell picks them up, and my Alexa alerts me.

Also the CCTV catches them.

So called TikTok diet influencers spouting out of date BS and making money off it.
There is new scientific evidence proves a lot the the shiz the food industry has pushed via the medical services are lies

Simple truth animal fats good oils bad, processed foods bad meat fish veg and unprocessed carbs good. There is evidence that shows animal fats in moderation have no effect on heart health

One of my biggest banes / symptoms I go through daily is full body cramps. With kidney disease, Crohn's / hemicolectomy as it's causes it's like the perfect storm. Every muscle in my body is affected by it and most the time it does happen to all of my body all at the same time.

It doesn't get the attention it deserves. It can make a grown person go from sleeping to screaming and crying in pain in 0-5 seconds. Try to massage your legs, then you get cramp in your arms, hands and back and it can be just relentless. Then there's the after pain that comes with it around 2 days afterwards. Then it feels like the proverbial 'gone through 12 rounds with Mike Tyson' that makes the simplest of tasks so painful or even impossible.

Bloody having to keep buying clothes cuz what I have no longer fits. Bought a pair of jeans less than 2 months ago and now they are 6 inches round the waist to big. Bought a belt a month ago and it was on the first hole when I bought it now it is on the last hole and time to get the drill out soon to make new holes in it . Gone from 3 xl to 1xl in about 6 weeks in t shirts too but the 3 xls I can wear in the gym

As I said I know this can be seen as a good thing too but it is costing me a bloody fortune haha

When I look for a particular product on a shop’s display, there’s none there, I go and ask a staff member if they have any in stock because there’s none on the shelf and THEY THEN GO AND LOOK AT THE VERY SAME DISPLAY THAT I WAS JUST LOOKING AT.

Having worked in a shop, there are many customers who ask for something that is clearly on display. You show them where it is, and it's invariably followed by "can't see for looking".

Watching someone going through the process of loss, grief and guilt

My sister in law lost her cat yesterday that she had for fifteen years, died in its sleep. my sister in law has significant neurological impairment due to Microcephaly and it’s truly horrific watching her break her heart over and over again and blaming herself.

I can only imagine how hard that must be seeing them constantly reliving that same horrible moment.

I lost both my cats at 15 years. April 23 for you younger one and June 22 for the older ofnthe two and that has been heartbreaking enough with the added issue of neurological impairment. :(

Confidence knocked bad. Been chatting to a lass on Facebook dating and Whatsapp. Getting on well chatting for ages arranged a meet then suddenly blocked and ghosted. No reason why. Shiz like this really sets me back`. The weight I am at now is where I was the last time I was in a serious relationship and although it was not the break up from that led me to my breakdown and weight gain it was a contributing factor.

How I feel now proves I am still vulnerable to this which makes me not want to try but I also do not want to be alone anymore. I do not know what to do

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like something wasn't right on her part. It's just natural progression to want to meet after chatting for so long.

See it as her loss but don't let it get to you. Just keep doing what you're doing as that is building your confidence within yourself. From what I've read so far you've done brilliantly so keep building on that. Yeah it's a set back and you might go through many more till you find the one. Just never give up. :)

I mean I have a face that looks like a smacked arse, but been married twice, and constantly told I've punched well above my weight (I can accept that's a put down / negative remark on my side). But I don't care what I look like as I can't change that fact but I can accept that it's my personality and confidence is what that counted far more than my looks. It's how you carry yourself.

Her loss. Keep moving forward one small step at a time. In the meantime try to be comfortable & embrace being on your own it’s an amazing place to be.

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments already made by the guys. From my perspective it's definitely her loss.

Jay you are a great guy, you always have been as long as I have known you. Don't let this get to you. You have worked so hard and you look great, it's her loss and even if you never find out why she bottled meeting you in real life it shows how lucky you were not to invest any more time on her.

Take a break from the search and just enjoy the new freedom. The more you socialise the more confidence you will gain and who knows, maybe the lady you are looking for is just waiting around the corner.

xx Jo

Good new and bad news. (From the report) The good news is I don't have Parkinson's disease. But the cause of the aggressive shakes is still yet not known. So further tests needs to be done. (Nerve Conduction Study and scans).
The bad news that a lot could be related to my neck. C3/4 has collapsed and now fused. C2/3, C4/5, C5/6 and C6/7 has degenerative changes also. And also a significant joint (shoulder) pathology was raised which is the cause of the persistent neuralgic amyotrophy (I can no longer lift my right arm up). As well as other problems related to the above which are long term.

Still it's a step forward at least.

Thanks, just shy of 12 hours in the end. Mrs G had a funny turn, they couldn't find anything despite loads of tests. In the end they put it down to stress/anxiety (having a hard time with her family), but they also told her not to wait 3 hours with chest pains before ringing 111.

Yes sadly spending 4 hours in A&E is very much at the low end of expectations as 8 to 12 hours is pretty much average nowadays.

Thanks for the update Grim as yes with any significant chest pains never wait three hours before doing something as the longer one does not do anything the greater the risk if it is to do with the heart of getting more significant damage done to the heart..

I've just had to phone 999 to report that my next door neighbour is likely to be dead, us neighbours haven't seen any lights changing in the house for a while and we knew he was in very poor health and never seemed to do anything about it.

So I went outside to tell a neighbour I think I need to call for a welfare check but then I saw 100s of flies on the window so I knew he was dead, it took the police 30mins to break down the front door to confirm.

I knew it was going to happen like this eventually but it's still a scary shock to have to deal with it, the only family he has is a sister and she lives in New Zealand.

Likely just laughing at you.

Also no matter what happens, you never stoop so low as to scream racist remarks at people. That shouldnt even be something that crosses your mind.

I don’t think anyone said it wasn’t? However, that doesn’t justify the use of racial slurs in response, does it ?

I’m mostly concerned not with the fact he used racial slurs, bad enough though that is, but that he came on an internet forum afterwards to voluntarily tell a bunch of strangers that he did so, like he’s looking for us to affirm him and tell him it’s ok to be racist in certain circumstances.

It is not ok.

Doubtful, as he mentioned the girls was black (why would you?). To me it was instinctively said. I doubt he was looking for affirmation here either as I don't think he works that way.

He should have reported it. It was a mugging, and from drug dealers (could be legal where he is for all I know). But then again, they could have been 14 years old or less. It needs to be all taken with a large pinch of salt I reckon.

There is literally nothing in his post that indicates why he shouted, in his own words, ‘racist slurs’.

They are lucky I wasnt mean..

So how you arrive at the conclusion that ‘to me it was instinctively said’ is a mystery. I can totally understand why you would want to believe it to be instinctive because the opposite is to accept that he thinks it’s acceptable to be racist under certain circumstances.

If you are somehow in any doubt as to the strange, attention seeking nature of this particular individual, a web search on his user name might be instructive.

peanut 24-06-2024 13:30

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

Probably not the right word 'instinctively'. I meant it as in the first words that came to him would be to use those words. He has no issues about mentioning black, using such words and telling people about it.

I have looked, he does have a strange habitual behaviour when it comes to forums. That's putting it politely.

Kind of hope it wasn't instinctive as then it's second nature. That said we all have said things we regret when in shock or angry with adrenaline pumping, am I going to hold it against him that a couple of thieves had their feelings hurt or look into it deeply as part of some sort of character assessment, no but to be on the safe side I think I'll unsubscribe from the thread and let the proverbial lynching continue without me as I get the feeling it has a while to run yet

Like I said … the problem is revealed by the fact that he came on the internet afterwards to tell a bunch of strangers about it. Why mention it at all if he didn’t think it was acceptable in some way? If it slipped out of my mouth I can tell you I’d be so mortified I’d wish nobody heard it and I’d certainly never tell anyone about it.

You didnt say it was, you deliberately made a point about his response only, which implied you thought that was fine, just his response wasnt.
To be blunt, I consider physical stealing to be worse than a few insulting words.

It depends on whether it was deliberate, or just an instictive response.
Given how it was worded it, I'm inclined to think it was the former, which is poor form.

Yes I did report it to store staff but they said it was LEGAL (them smoking pot) and they couldnt really do anytihng of it...

Why bother taking camera footage then?

Apologies, didn’t realise I had to specify something was explicitly wrong otherwise I would be condoning it. Point noted for future reference.

Calling someone an expletive is an instinctive reaction
, however using a racial slur is a conscious decision.

For example if a black person ‘mugged’ me I would probably respond with ‘you thieving c word’ that would be instinctive ‘you thieving black c word’ however is not

If a white person mugged me would I respond with ‘you thieving white c word’ ? No of course I wouldn’t

Above btw is not an attempt to bypass swear filter

Well as they ran off then there was no danger there at all and they clearly weren't interested in doing you any physical harm.

While any theft is unacceptable, it was only a small amount of money and really not worth chasing them or getting yourself into bother over.

Next time someone asks for money just say I'm sorry I don't have any cash.

I think you were probably put in a situation you didnt expect to be in and that caused you to react in a way that not even you knew how to react.
It does not excuse any racism and ofcourse that is plain wrong but I think you have probably learned from your mistakes.

Next time I suggest just ignoring them and moving away, especially if they are smoking and dealing pot. You dont want to be anywhere near that.

I don't really have the option as I'm kind of tied to apple now. As we use ipads and my wife & I have iPhones it's now more about how much they now control everything around the home. (Hue, Tapi, Harmony hub for TV, Fans etc, Yamaha AV also streaming to the AV is excellent). I can't fault apple's products as they do work seamlessly for everything we need.

It's just iTunes. The biggest pile of crap software going. Took 3 attempts to install it as it wouldn't open. I would have thought they'd have improved it by now. I wiped off close to 20gb of music. Luckily I've managed to put some of it back on now anyway.

My moan? Nice people. *Specific* nice people.

Context: Been a MUFC fan since 1985 so naturally Liverpool are the enemy. When I split with my son’s mother she brought him up to support LFC just to piss me off and yep it’s worked beautifully. So when he asks for Liverpool kits for his birthday I’ve had to buy them. And when he wanted an Anfield stadium tour, yep I had to take him. You can imagine how much that pissed me off however his happiness is paramount.

Anyway I bought him a kit for his birthday which turned out to be ridiculously small (the way they ascertain the size on their website is absolute bollards, really stupid) and I’ve needed to return it for a refund as I can now get it cheaper elsewhere.

So my moan? It’s just how helpful and friendly the club shop staff have been about the whole thing. There were a few issues that needed ironing out but they were absolutely brilliant. I wanted them to be dicks about it (because…..Liverpool) but no, very helpful and friendly.

I went on the tour with him. I ****** hated it. Much preferred Old Trafford (naturally). The only decent part of the scouse tour was the changing room with all the “rest of the world” legends shirts. Messi, Buffon, Keane etc, all actual shirts of players who’d been there.

In May I contacted my mobile phone people about their charges. I spent nearly an hour trying to get some sense, but eventually had to request I speak with a manager. Ended up we came to an agreement of £7.20 per month including VAT (more than half previous charges). Today I get a bill for £10.20, I asked them why, and it is apparently because my direct debit was not renewed. Give me strength

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

Just completed tha annual joyfest that is Car Insurance renewal - the moan is about the amount of time and effort involved.

Our MultiCar policy was set to increase around £600 for 3 cars (Kodiaq, KA+, Focus), so I decided to shop around, and got my wife's KA+ reduced by £45, my Kodiaq reduced by £170, and my son's Focus* renewal price** by £280. I rang up our current insurer to see if they could price-match, but the best they could offer was around a £130 reduction on their initial renewal prices.

It's takes a bit of time and effort (even with comparison sites), and it's a bit more inconvenient to have three different companies to deal with, but for a saving of nearly £500, but it's definitely worth doing.

*he pays for his own insurance, but we pay it annually up front (to reduce the cost), and he pays it back by DD monthly

** his renewal had initially been raised by over £200. but he recently got a speeding ticket for doing 76mph on the Motorway, so this bumped it up another £300, from £690 last year to over £1200 this year

Chris 27-07-2024 13:42

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

The multi car insurers are absolutely at it. I had to move away from ours this year because of the ludicrous increase they wanted.

GrimUpNorth 27-07-2024 15:28

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

And be creative with your annual mileage estimate. When I sorted insurance for my Aunt earlier in the year, getting a quote based on doing up to 5,000 miles was the sweet spot. She doesn't even do 1000 but that nearly doubled the price!

Chris 27-07-2024 15:30

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

Someone who hardly uses the car is presumably more likely to wreck it when they do (or in my mum’s case, wreck other people’s … she was very good at deleting wing mirrors off other cars, including a very shiny Lotus once :disturbd: )

Russ 27-07-2024 15:48

Re: Moans and Pet Hates - Part 8

In fairness…I know there’s an idea that insurers are happily ripping people off but that’s not necessarily always the case. Cost of car parts has generally gone up and import hassle from Brexit all plays as part.
