That sucks :(

Our 'main' library is due to re-open soon, with another 3 'community' libraries following suit but with only part time opening in the future.

I've no idea about the future prospects of the Mobile Library, which was a help to many of the aged/infirm readers.

I must admit to now reading many Ebooks on the PC or tablet, but I miss those soothing and often interesting library visits.

Removal of VAT on Ebooks may help with those being more affordable but looking on Amazon 2nd hand books can be really cheap, not free but for some books you want to keep it can be a good option.

Maybe communities can work out a book share but then "is it safe" even if not really legal would crop up.

The Saints of Salvation - Peter F Hamilton

This is the final book in the latest trilogy (Salvation Sequence) by Peter F Hamilton, and I've managed to get an ARC from NetGalley (it's not released until 29th October).

I really like his Space Opera books, but in this trilogy, his books have been shorter than usual - this one only has 528 pages (the first one of his I read, The Reality Dysfunction (again, 1st book in a trilogy) had 1232 pages in the paperback edition, and the other two books were about the same length).

Behind the Enigma - the authorised history of GCHQ, by John Ferris.

I have ex-colleagues who still work at Q, and they highly recommend it.

Well, a mixture of retirement, lockdown, and inability to travel has upped the number of books I read this year.

84 books read on the iPad, and 15 on the Kindle.

Last ones read were -

FUBAR - Weston Ochse
Lockdown Tales - Neal Asher
Orders of Battle - Marko Kloos (latest in the "Frontlines" series)
Man-Kzin Wars XV - Larry Niven
Hench - Natalie Zina Walschots
Tales from the Folly - Ben Aaronovitch
Long Road From Jarrow - Stuart Maconi
The Survivor - Gregg Hurwitz
Logging Off - Nick Spalding
