I just hope the X1 doesn't have as many problems as the Ps4 is currently having. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
We shouldn't compare it to a PC anymore. I've been criticised for it and likely deservingly when comparing them to my PC listed in my sig.
Graphics and res can never be compared because it's obvious a PC is going to win. So you move onto playability and general fun. I've had more fun with my 360 than any other console or PC. Xbox live was the killer in this generation. It made Sony's online platform look like a cheap knockoff. It was easily worth the £30 a year for me. It was simple to use and they just about got everything right with it. The controller although built for console was also compatible with PC. For owners of both this was a huge deal when you look at the lack of controllers and controller support on PC's. It made console ports so much better on PC's for a change. So Microsoft was in two marketswwith one device. Exclusives such as HALO 3. I remember the midnight launches for this across the world. It was the biggest event in gaming for its time. Obviously it's since been beaten but us true fans will never forget. |

I will hopefully be getting one of the consoles at some point, originally I was just going to get the X1 because I've never had a PS and had the 360 from launch so the X1 was my first choice without any consideration of the PS4. But this time because they are being launched so close together and there ain't much info when it comes down to a more realistic review for comparisons at the moment I'm happy to wait it out for a bit. Hopefully for not too long though. When the 360 was launched it was classed as next gen, and in some ways it was compared to the playstation and the Xbox, but to call the new ones 'next gen' again, I hoping my high expectations are met, but so far they've made me cautious. The one thing I will add is that I'm more disappointed with PC gaming now more than ever. It's going to take a lot of convincing now to save up and spend out for a 'gaming' PC now. I might at a push upgrade a few bits, but it won't be anything major if and when it comes to it. Consoles are going to be the 1st for any kind of gaming choice obviously now. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
So the TV stuff will work from launch then?

I hope it will work with Virgin and sky later next year.
It would be nice to say 'Xbox watch Sky 1' etc and then it does it all for you. |

As for indy games. look at the 360 its got a massive Indy game section. I see the One being the same at the end of the day. Microsoft know people want a games console but also that having an all in one media box is a help to people if they want to make use of it. Remember if you don't use any of the other stuff its 100% still a games console. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I expect the X1 to have alot of Indie games eventually considering ALL X1s are development kits now. :)

Microsoft have started shipping X1s now from them directly, some people are saying delivery is expected Tuesday 19th on their despatch status.

The Xbox will still have Halo, all the multi platform games and so on. Microsoft will always have Grand Theft Auto, FIFA, Call of Duty and so on on their console. Yet I think Sony's more aggressive courting of developers and their positioning of their console as an gaming machine first will mean it will follow this generations pattern of the Playstation getting the riskier, smaller and more innovative games. The Xbox still has two very strong cards: Xbox live and that controller. Microsoft know software and that still shows in their LIVE services and their dashboard UI. The rubbish XMB interface and flimsy controller on the PS3 meant I played all multi-platform games on my Xbox and used the PS3 only for the aforementioned Indie games and the exclusives (Heavy Rain, Last of Us). Still I am in two minds this generation. I honestly probably will get the one with the better reviews as I am so undecided. |

If it works though many people will prefer having just one box that can do everything. Also when enabled all Xbox Ones will be able to act as dev machines. |
