On the contrary, I think we're now going to see a global media company with a much better negotiating position than at present, and all the extra content that should bring over time.

Yes she did somewhat exaggerate what she came out with on a regular basis.

Is it right that they don't have operations in the US?

Disney maybe pulling out ESPN from uk.

http://www.marketingweek.co.uk/news/...005615.article

Would be blow this to those who watch it. Why companies so obsessed surely disney could take some financial hit. Like every wants millions viewers the cake not big enough to go around.

Quote:

Disney’s chief financial officer, Jay Rasulo reportedly told analysts the UK division yesterday (5 February) of the broadcaster has “experienced losses” and was “exploring an exit.”
Do you think liberty might aquire it.

Would this mean move to bring in premier sports to fill the hole.

I'd spend some time on the AV forums for advice on sound systems. You can get better sounding systems for the same price as a Bose system.

Ah cheers for that, much appreciated, the Bose TV system costs around £349, I was just wondering if any of the cheaper ones were worth buying, thanks again.:)

Oh and the share price has tripled since Neil B took over (compared with a 48% increase for Sky in the same period) and the company has gone from being financially unsound to making a profit in the first time in UK cable history

The share price has tripled as VM keep raising prices but give nothing in return. I think most people on here would rather see new content rather than share holders pockets being lined.

Not true, new content does come to Virgin Media, it's just that as soon as it does everyone forgets it has. For instance

If they weren't providing a good product they'd be losing customers, failing to make a profit and watching the share price tumble.

Just watched the sky news interview with mike fries and all he seemed to go on about is broadband,Sky knows what is important channels and that is why they are the success that they are and now improving there broadband.i really hope that we haven't got another company at the helm that is clueless we're channels are concerned in acquiring new quality content and listening to there customers pleas:erm:

All you've mentioned there is picture quality (HD) and Sky Atlantic, yet many posts are treating it as if we are missing half the TV that's on.

Universal HD obviously isn't coming as the deal has already been done this year but I'd say its a safe bet ITV HD will be done in the next ITV negotiations because they get the viewers.

Far point m8,sky knew they were onto a winner when they branched into the HD market and have had massive success from it,vm were very slow in acquiring it and it wasn't till customers started to leave that vm finally aquired a considerable amount of HD channels.rather than continue to grow they seemed to rest on there laurels.more people are now getting HD compatible tv's and are naturally wanting HD channels,I personally don't watch sd channels if a program I want to watch is on them I obtain HD versions by other means.
