Boxnation Tweeted:
"Watch out for a whole load of exciting BoxNation news tomorrow afternoon" Frank Warren has Tweeted: "We'll be releasing a lot of exciting news in tomorrow's boxnationtv presser. Some of British boxing biggest figures will be in attendance." Seems strange that some of British boxing's biggest figures would be present if it was just a run of the mill Boxnation press conference. I know that Lennox Lewis is currently in Liverpool. I wonder if he will be involved? ---------- Post added 26-06-2013 at 00:04 ---------- Previous post was 25-06-2013 at 23:41 ---------- Found an article in the Irish Sun from the 21st June regarding Belfast's Carl Frampton and Cork’s WBO International middleweight Gary O’Sullivan: http://www.thesun.ie/irishsol/homepa.../Fab-four.html "Hopefully this new Irish interest in affairs prompts BoxNation and UPC to get their fingers out and start working together. The specialist fight channel is still unavailable to more than 382,000 digital TV subscribers in Ireland. Fight fans here should start to lobby both, on @UPCIreland and @boxnationtv." |

The channel, which has been operating for 22 months, held a swanky press conference at London restaurant on Tuesday outlining future plans. The broadcaster revealed they are in talks Bill Ives, Chairman of the channel's sponsors Rainham Steel, to become a major shareholder. Ives is a long-term supporter of boxing, and fought as an amateur in the 1960s boxing in London divisional championships. Subscribers who pay just £10 a month for action from Britain and all over the world will be able to see fights in HD from later this year. Chairman Richard Brooke and board member Frank Warren also outlined plans for BoxNation to be made available overseas. Warren appeared at the press conference with promoters Ricky Hatton, Frank Maloney and Barry McGuigan, whose boxers will feature on the channel. Warren said: "The channel is going from strength to strength and when our cards go in HD our subscribers will be delighted. "Our main goal is to deliver the best fights from around the world like what we are doing with Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez which is the biggest fight in the world this year. "We know what fans want and we will continue to deliver for them for years to come. "Our subscriber base is excellent right now, but of course it is event driven and there are times it is higher than others." Chairman Richard Brooke, board member George Warren and Chief of Operations JIm McMunn are working on implementing HD. Another offer coming soon is giving fans a chance to sign up for the rest of 2013 and pay just £50. Details will be released shortly. Brooke added: "Our coverage has made BoxNation the channel of champions and we have an unrivalled schedule of fights coming up. "It has been hard work, but we are here and getting bigger all the time." |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Anyway the point I'm trying to make is last year during the quiet summer period, a lot of Boxnation subscribers left. I don't think Boxnation want the same summer exodus, especially with BT sports launching at the same time trying to attract sports fans to their service. I think Boxnation are simply trying to tie customers down for the rest of the year. I don't think boxnation are struggling for funds, if the Daily Mail is to be believed: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/box...die-Hearn.html "Sky had appeared to be on the brink of establishing a monopoly with Hearn until Box Nation found millions more in funding." |
