try the online tier upgrade screen, you might be able to select 'upto' 10meg from there.

I just called up a friend and he gave me the telephone number for retentions and they just upgraded me. Pretty bad that it took that to get it though.

My Surfboard 4100 has a 10/100 port and the 100 led is lit but my Router a linsys befsr41 had only a 10meg wan port.
So ive changed my router to a linksys wrt54g.
Which has a 10/100 wan port

Been rading about the SB4100, aparently it has 100Mb ethernet port.
I can only get it to work at 10Mb.
Anyone know what is wrong here, the documention or me?
It docs state that 100Mb connection is shown with both NIC lights illuminated ans 10Mb witth only the top light.
Is there a way to switch it to 100Mb? Or should I just tell ntl its broke and I need a nice new one?

thanks bongman it looks like the ntl 250's the modem i need.

anybody any ideas how i can get the nice ntl person to swap my stinking aged terayon for a nice shiny new ntl 250,being nice doesn't work i've tried it.

For 10mb broadband your router only needs to support 10mbit full duplex

and yes, i have the NTL:250 and get full speeds.

Just a few questions I would like answering really...


What is the best way of contacting ntl for the upgrade? I have a STB that was upgraded about a year back to a silver samsung one I think. I can't use the upgrade page online because they cannot upgrade STB from there. I have called NTL (10mb is in Peterborough where I live) and they said I will be upgraded by end of november and some crap that I think they were on about as a way of getting me off the phone tbh.

I remember when I was upgraded from 1mb to 3mb, I called them and asked for 3mb, 2mins later is was on (first call). Now its just a complete pain in the ****, I just want my upgrade!!!

It appears as though they want to make me wait because I have a STB. Well I pay for their top Internet service, two telephone lines and a moderately sized TV package from them, wheres the service back?

Please help meeeeeee :)

the best way, if it matters so much, is to be polite and dont take any crap (ie. getting non level playing field treatment compared to new customer). or you could be patient and sit it out for a few weeks or a couple of months and wait for them to get on top of it.
