surely as ntl and bt are the only physical line providers (well, bar kingston) they will get more dissatisfied customers than companies that have nothing to do with the lines themselves, like talk talk, that just supply calls. if something goes wrong with your line when you're with talk talk, its still bt that have to fix your line afaik!

No if a person has a problem with a vendor that resells BT services then that doesnt count a as a complaint against BT it doesnt work like that.

Indeed... If a person on another phone service or ADSL provider has a fault, they need to report it to their provider. Their provider will then fix it or call BT as appropriate.

i stand corrected!

but talk talk can probably get things fixed quicker by bt than an individual customer can.

Doesn't always work like that. BT see these people as competitors, and only allow them on the network because they are forced to. They have been known to do the minimum possible (after all, if BT muck Talk Talk around, what are Talk Talk going to do? Go to another supplier and risk losing thousands of customers?)

good point!

couldn't talk talk run to the regulators quicker than a customer can, and claim bt were being prohibitive and therefore anti competitive?

i'm fairly sure the people who were surveyed weren't just making their decision based purely on the phone service either. never had any problems with the phone, just tv and internet!

also, why haven't ntl been forced to open up their network yet?

in that case ofcom are more likely to react for talk talk then a customer because ofcom is there to ensure fair competition, they are not there for consumer's. Or so they keep telling me when I ring them :(
