Nowadays though, that different view is drowned out by those who cry 'foul' at any opportunity.

If I had a mind to, I could write over 100 letters a day complaining about the shite on TV, but it would still remain shite because my idea of shite is different to the sad sacks that like it and produce it.

RIP individualism :p:

Being a "complete arse" is not the same as having a "different view" - the problem is that they’re often conflated.

Don't say that, you may conjure up the streaming-is-best genie. ;)

National Geographic Wild (265 Tivo) keeps me going.

Another one 'backs down' in the face of social media outrage

Sharon Osbourne apologises for her 'panicked' defence of Piers Morgan

In Friday's statement, she apologised to "anyone of colour that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused, or let down by what I said". She explained that she had "allowed my fear and horror of being accused of being racist take over".
It does make me laugh though, that your online persona and all your 'followers' are more important than anything else :D :p:

But some people like to degenerate & attempt to diminish the point of view of others by the use of such insulting language simply because it's a view that doesn't concur with their own.

Yep, popularity is a close second (though I suppose they are both closely connected).

And others attempt to diminish the point of view of others by threats of legal action, which are often only used as a bullying tactic...

I wish them well, but they should shut up and be less hypocritical in terms of publicity.

I also wish a reasonably sized pox on Prince Charles for all the generally understood reasons.

I don't wish any of them anything, I'm completely indifferent to them all

Agree with you there, why this is till in the headlines with everything else going on in the world, says a lot about our warped Country.

I'm not particularly anti royalist, got some time for the Queen and her durability. But the rest can shape up, fund themselves, or sod off. Otherwise royalty is in crisis when she finally pegs it.

I think it says more about the media and the establishment. Keep the proles talking about the irrelevant things while the important things go under the radar.

Do you have any examples of this practice? It would be extraordinary to threaten anybody with legal action to merely diminish their point of view and wouldn't get very far as we in the UK, to an extent, have freedom of speech. It's far more likely to be used to deal with unlawful behaviour.
