That will be because they are required to have TWO TV licences for their REQUIRED 2 properties(one in their constituency and the other in London).

Just like families with a student away from home then, except they have to pay?

This is a Govt. decision, anyone blaming the BBC has been hoodwinked.

I don't see why MPs get it free?

That is because they charge to much for advertising... what is wrong with competition.

I see some of the top exec's have been given a big pay rise!

So what you are saying is that each of the channels should have less revenue, as they will be charging less for the advertising?

So? What the hell difference should that make? That would be the same for anyone with two homes that they reside in intermittently.Being an MP shouldn't come into it.

They are REQUIRED(being the operative word), to have 2 homes. That is why they are reimbursed for the additional costs of that 2nd home. A TV Licence isn't a PPV item. Anyway totally irrelevant to this thread.

If you want to point out a huge unfair anomaly, you should comment on the situation where there could be half a dozen adults in a household, but only one of them has to be over 75, in order for the whole household to qualify.

They are not required to have two homes especially those who represent London constituents.

I wonder what proportion of the over 75s live in a household with lots of freeloading adults? The royal family being one. ;)

I think we are wandering into the realms of nonsense. This decision is completely pointless and won't gain much in the way of funding for the BBC in view of the outlay to run the organisation. They should have just paid their over paid executives a lot less in wages.

And their overpaid "talent", last time I saw watchdog I did wonder if the show really needed all those presenters, even more so with match of the day, does it really need someone paid hundreds of thousands of pounds a year for simply saying whose up next, save the cash and we'll work it out for ourselves, if the cut the waste they'd have enough to cover this shortfall

It is when you take a reality check. Is this break in June a Christmas break?
