The megalomaniacs give them 'stuff' in return for their votes. Simple bribery.

Votes from football federations of numerous African and Asian nations which are, to put it bluntly, no entities on the world football stage. As Ignition puts it above, votes in return for "development funds"

Also generally pretty poor countries so relatively inexpensive to pay for the votes.

£250k goes a long way in some places.

Date of 26th Feb 2016 set for FIFA Presidential election

time to steer the ship out of stormy waters, or so he'll think.

Because they'll need to attend numerous meetings in suitably lavish surroundings during which vast amounts of the finest food, wine, spirits and cigars will be consumed in order to focus their minds on where FIFA went wrong...

We really shouldn't expect them to behave better than any number of politicians who've jetted around the globe to contribute to climate change conferences in some 'threatened' paradise somewhere or other. You see they need to have experienced the luxury these destinations can offer first hand in order to see what the planet will be missing if sea level changes swallow them up...

I want to see him locked up just to wipe the smug look off his face. Maybe then FIFA can restore some semblance of authority over world soccer instead of being mired in corruption.

BTW I hate football and would quite happily see the whole corrupt edifice crumble onto the sands.

The Platini thing is interesting, so the current president, the likely interim (some Cameroonian guy) president and the favourite for the role all have convictions for or pending for criminal activities involving cash. Interesting times down at fifa hq
