but the Americans drop bombs for oil and our government follow them worse than fighting for what they think is right in the eyes of God surely?

you do know the US involvement in WWII was all to do with oil to do you not?

Well when insane people do insane things, it's usually because they're insane, but when someone sane does something insane that's usually the fault of religion.

Yeah, ordered to do things they wouldn't normally do. God bless America.

The Japanese were resource hungry, their invasion of Manchuria led to a US oil embargo with inevitable consequences

More like God will be with you watching over and protecting you rather than helping you kill people, perhaps he didn't make that clear or perhaps ambiguity suits an agenda

However, the embargo was because Japan had invaded South-East Indo-China, so I am not sure that supports the statement that 'US involvement in WW2 was all about oil'....

There's a (reasonably) balanced view from the US Military Academy, which points out that the US backed Japan into a corner.

No, but most electrical products (whoever happens to make them) are not normally considered offensive.

Alcohol *is* considered offensive by a lot of people, both religious and not.

But the post by Tizme' implied that the US went to war for oil in WW2, unless I misinterpreted the post.

Supermarket customer refused pasta purchase by follower of Flying Spaghetti Monster

Quote:

A supermarket worker and strict adherent to the teachings of the Flying Spaghetti Monster has been criticised after refusing to sell customers any pasta-based products.

Shelf stacker Simon Williams, who works for Morrisons in Bradford, said that handling pasta is against his strict religious beliefs and that no-one should be able to force him to do his job – even if it involves something that’s all around him all day, every day.

Williams told reporters, “His supreme noodliness teaches us that pasta is his body, and as such it should be revered – not consumed as part of a balanced diet like these so-call ‘scientists’ keep telling us.”

“I’m sure there are plenty of disgusting infidels out there who want to eat pasta, and much as I’d prefer they didn’t, I won’t tell them to stop – but I certainly won’t have it cross my hands. It’s a mortal sin you know.”

For some reason 'for the oil' has become the catch-all way to explain any war or Foreign policy devision.
