Is any of the YT content on TIVO available in 1080p like on the PC version as it's not on my Blu Ray player.

I understood all utube was low quality resolution which was a main reason for me not wanting to watch on a HD plasma.

Even going to a store I still dont believe you get any idea of what the tivo is like until its working on your own personal tv, amp etc. We can all demo using the latest high quality products but it still does not compensate real life viewing in your own home.

As I thought the same as my blu ray YT , with the PC version many videos have 240p right through to 1080p available , and I agree you need to use something for a length of time in the home environment , what's your initial thoughts of TIVO.

You can search for HD material. Like another poster said if you for instance search for "Muse HD". It will bring up HD versions.

I got the impression everything on utube was low grade definition so you could upload to them quicker.

Something must have stuck in my brain from initial launch of utube about having to compress to a certain bitrate for uploading.

Yes at launch most video was lower quality , however now many companies like Which post videos to YT and many are at full 1080p. I have a small form PC hooked to my TV and using the YT website on my TV at 1080p the quality is amazing. Its a real shame the YT apps on TIVO , connected TVs and Blu Ray players didn't enable you to pick your resolution as this would be great and really beneficial.

Or iPads! I don't always need 720p at the higher bandwith, and sometimes I'd like to just quickly see something, regardless of quality. Give us control of our bloody devices!

Ok, just like other devices such as iPad, Blu-Rays, iTVs and other PVRs, it's dissapointing that TiVo doesn't provide better control of the YouTube streaming resolutions.
