Fair enough. I know nothing of Linux's inner workings; and not a lot about the outer ones either, for that matter ;) Thanks for the explanation.

Mine has definitely been a lot slower since the update, I'm seeing the red circle regularly now - I'd never ever seen it before the update.

We had no previous problems but HD is now an issue.

On realtime HD channels within 10 seconds of tuning the picture and sound both break up and then we get black screen with a message saying "This channel is not authorised".

This happens on all HD channels - SD is fine.

We also seem to have a problem with HD playback where the video and audio pause for about 4 seconds every nine seconds. Programs were recorded a few weeks ago.

Box also seems to be a lot slower and we get the spinning cursor a lot more.

Not that impressed by the update.

We have also had a few random reboots as well.

The update hasn't caused those problems. You should give VM a call.

ps. Welcome to the forum!

Have you tried to reboot your box?

Cheers - I have rebooted both through the system settings and turning it off and leaving off for 15 seconds.

It could be a hardware issue but the changes seem to be dovetailed with the latest firmware release earlier on in the week - am guessing as its a closed system there is no way of reverting to a previous firmware?
