Re: Football World Cup 2010
Some Carragher quotes courtesy of the fiver...
• "I was never in love with playing for England in the first place." • "Sitting on the England coach as it prepared to drive us away from the World Cup in Germany, I received a text message. 'Fcuk it! It's only England'. I'd just missed a penalty in the quarter-final shoot-out against Portugal. Representing your country is the ultimate honour, especially in the World Cup. Not to me." • "I would rather miss for England than LFC." • "I wasn't giving up my football career or my ambitions. Only England." • "The Liver Bird mauled the Three Lions in the fight for my loyalties." • "Whenever I returned home from disappointing England experiences, one unshakeable, overriding thought pushed itself to the forefront of my mind, no matter how much the rest of the nation mourned. 'At least it wasn't Liverpool,' I'd repeat to myself, over and over." |

Surely this is good news for England though :) |
Re: Football World Cup 2010
Would not care at all if Terry didn't go, he's a tit and his performances have been pretty poor most of the season.

A brief look back at the 1974 World Cup with The Beeb.

If like me you like to keep track of the scores, I found this excel spreadsheet that all you do is put the score, it updates the group tables and progresses the teams to the next stages.

Re: Football World Cup 2010
Did anyone else see the Portugal score last night? - Portugal 0-0 Cape Verde Islands
Portugal played pretty much a full strength team as well. It looks like Ivory Coast have a really good chance of going through in their group. |
Re: Football World Cup 2010
England is really not convincing me that they are able to lift the cup after watching the performance against Japan.
|
Re: Football World Cup 2010
I agree with that, but thanks for the two own goals Japan :D

POOR, PATHETIC, we didn't score, there were own goals, WIN THE WORLD CUP, on this performance, l have seen better football on a Sunday morning.

Re: Football World Cup 2010
It was just an experimental friendly against a decent Japan. The days of wiping the floor with the non-traditional powerhouses died a long time ago.
