So Damien, how are you finding it?

Pretty good. There is a nice 'feeling' about the device, hard to explain but with the leather cover it feels classy with a sense of old style to it. It feels right to be reading on it, something that felt cheap and flimsy would ruin the experience.

It's a hard thing to get across but it feels right and classical anyway.

The resolution and contrast is, as you expect, excellent. It's not quite paper like and if a certain amount of light hits the screen at a certain angle then it does reflect slightly but not enough to distract you and make it harder to read. It's only in those moments that your reminded that this isn't quite paper.

The screen refresh is fast enough that it isn't a problem at all and you can quite easily type things into it without feeling like it's going really slowly. However the lack of touch screen and the need to refresh when the cursor moves makes web browsing pretty bad but that's not really an issue.

I am two chapters into Brave New World and it's fine to read. Really does 'get out of your way' and allows you to read. I think it has a big advantage over phones and tablets, not simply because of the screen, but because you don't have anything else to do on it but read. If it were an iPad or iPhone I would be checking e-mail, checking cable forum, checking twitter every other page.

It is in my mind better than reading the book itself. Easier to hold at different positions than a book and in most cases lighter (something significantly so). It's not akin to the transition from cd player to mp3 player, you don't really need scores of books at any one time and a lot of people won't think it's worth the money. I am enjoying it though :)

On my HTC Wildfire today I have been reading Going Postal by Terry Pratchett whilst listening to music from Spotify, probably be a bit smoother on the Desire due to the faster processor and extra memory but all in all a good experience :)

You'll need the freeware Calibre then - http://calibre-ebook.com/ http://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=166

They are brilliant.

As are the Nightside series by Simon R Green though his Deathstalker book is the best..

I've no idea when mine's coming. When I ordered it did say on or before the 17th but that date has disappeared. I'm not getting any updates from Amazon via email.
