Many of these threads end up the same way, which is why i don't bother asking questions or commenting in case i get (wrongly) accused ot saying or implying something I didn't.

I only ever had very bad experience with religion. I do realise that not all are the same so I just don't bother with it any more.

I think russ thinks that ANYONE who criticises his point of view or opinions is a christian basher or has a personal vendetta against him. Although i'm a practising muslim i have a deep respect for christianity, as it's our duty to do so. I might not agree with some aspects of how its practised, in the same manner as i disagree with how certain people follow islam. But the nearest i've got to bashing christianity is when i've bashed the bishop ;)

You are infact allowed to bring your laptop in but this is south london so mine is locked safely at home. I'm using the net on my phone. Thank god for free internet access on my contract.

I accept constructive criticism, I take exception to personal criticism. There's a clear and noticed seperation between the 2 on CF.

Well let me point out that i have not criticised you personally. I'm criticising the view you made, and that i thought its not very christian like. The same as i would have if someone else said it. If you take exception to criticism of what you say, and think we are personally attacking you. then a public forum, which has posters of all opinions and backgrounds, is surely not the best place to make your views.

"Why should a couples sexual preferences be respected more than a couple's religious belief? Both are a matter of choice, so either both should be protected, or neither!"

People don't choose to be gay any more than they choose to be male, female, black or white. What a ridiculous thing to say.

But the heart of this issue has nothing to do with what the couple are - whether by choice or not - and it has everything to do with what they chose to do.

The hoteliers did not tell them they couldn't stay. They didn't tell them they didn't want people of that sexual orientation under their roof. They simply made clear what behaviour is and is not acceptable under their roof.

And such human behaviour is a matter of choice.

I'm also assuming the hotel gave them the option of a twin bed room. These guys could have simply moved the beds together and snuggled up nice and close. I do think that after listening and reading all the facts the gay couple involved are stirring this more for personal gain and making a name for themselves as opposed to any equal rights issues. If you know that a hotel is a christian run establishment, and you know what sleeping arrangements it lays down then turning up expecting something different, in my opinion is just making trouble. There are other ways to complain about your rights, its not like these two got an unknown suprise when they got there.if the courts do find in favour of the couple i only hope that any compensation they receive covers the cost of petrol at the most. 5k? You're having a laugh.

As said in my first post on this topic, the case is not about money, it is about gay rights.

They are making a stand.
