Re: 20Mbps News?

The Virgin Media 255 is supposedly capable of 40Mbps.

The thing is above 10Mbps you dont really notice much difference with general surfing. Even when downloading from some FTP sites. At work we have recently upgraded our connection from 10Mbps to 100Mbps fibre. We have now have pure 100Mbps of multi-homed internet transit up and down stream. The trouble is most servers cant push data quick enough. The BBC are quite good they dish it out up to 100Mbps but most dont..

No problem here.

I would quite happily pay double what im paying now (£34.99) for a nice 50MEG Connection ;)

not only that if you browsing websites with a line that fast the limitiation isnt bandwidth its how fast the cpu can process the data. Browsing rarely bursts higher then about 256kbit for light sites and a couple of mbit for heavier sites. Its one of those pseudo upgrades for light users.
